hahnel's innovative MCL103 fast charger comes with a UK 3-pin multi voltage switch mode power supply, compatible with 100-240v mains supply. It is the fastest Lithium Ion battery charger on the market, taking approx. 70 minutes to fully charge an 800mAh Lithium Ion battery! The MCL103 comes with battery contact plates for practically all current Canon Lithium Ion batteries (see below); the contact plates feature gold-contacts and are connected to the charger by a precision micro-plug, for the most efficient charge control.
The MCL103 weighs only 105g and is about the size of the conventional adapter. Another clever detail of the modern styled charger is the semi-transparent battery cover, which, when fully opened, folds out to be a stand-up leg. The charger can be powered from the electronic mains adaptor that automatically adjusts to the voltage of the country and from a 12V source with the supplied car lead allowing for convenient use at home, in your car, boat or caravan.

Customer Reviews
Avoid the beginner's mistake I made!
I chose this charger after deciding that a named-brand was probably a good idea since whether true or not, the scare stories of exploding batteries were a concern.
I have an EOS 400D and my girlfriend has an EOS 300D, this seemed like a great way to take only one piece of kit on holiday - and get in-car charging as well.
When I upacked it, there was a fairly poor instruction leaflet (which also covered JVC, Panasonic etc) detailing the assembly. A series of pictures attempted to guide you into choosing the correct faceplate depending on battery voltage and type.
It initally seemed that neither of the faceplates fitted the batteries, and I was just about to give up and re-package it for return - when I noticed that there were another 2 faceplates (4 in total) concealed in the packaging - one of which fitted BOTH batteries! Result!
We now have a smart, well made (and trustable) charger for both cameras, which we can take on holiday and use in hotel or car. There are lots of other Canon battery types accommodated, and despite the description camera batteries as well as camcorder batteries fit fine.
Very happy.
Smart and Functional
The unit comes semi-constructed with 3 different adapters, to make it compatible with the various Canon camcorder batteries (Li-Ion only). You need to choose one of the adapters and insert it into the unit, connecting the power cable with a small plug. It then clips together.
The battery then sits on the front of the unit to be charged. The charging light stays on solidly until the battery reaches 95% charge, then it flashes until 100%, when it goes off.
No perceived problems with the unit. Batteries do not get hot whilst charging, and they do charge quickly. I do think the price is quite high (hence 4 stars), but given the danger of over-charging Li-Ion batteries exploding in flames (yes, really!) it's best to invest in a named-brand unit.
