Customer Reviews
A Lot Of...Not Best Of
This is an excellent 20 track CD of most of Gracie's famous recordings mainly from the 1940s but with a few from the 30's and 50's. I won't detail them as that will be on the sales info but I should point out that the best known of all - Sally - is not included. I don't see how they can call it "Best Of..." given that.
A neglected classic
Gracie Fileds has perhaps been overshadowed by the recent release and success of the CD by Dame Vera Lynn, but this should not be so. Her voice may not be as refined as Dame Vera's, but it is more versatile, and this comes over in spades in this diverse collection, with songs ranging from raucous music hall humour (The Biggest Aspidestra in the World) to moving sentimentality (A letter to a Soldier) and even a Maori song (Now is the Hour). Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
nostalgia at its best
i played this to an age group that lived through the second world war and they loved it it brought back so many memories for them
