Customer Reviews
Philips Sonicare toothbrush disappointment.
Bought this because I thought it was a superior toothbrush, and yes, it did clean very well. However, the head grew black mould/bacteria inside, despite being cleaned each week as Philips recommended. Changed head for new head (quite expensive at £15 once very 6 months), cleaned as recommended, and same problem - not very hygienic to have close to one's mouth at high frequency vibration so it could contaminate. Totally put off using it. Contacted Philips, who claimed no knowledge of the problem (despite finding it on other review sites), and they suggested thorough cleaning, disinfecting and drying once very three days - what a palaver! Also, if no knowledge, why do some of their new products include a UV steriliser? Have stopped using the Philips Sonicare after 9 months and switched to Braun sonic, which seems to clean better, and has a much better design of brush head, without the hollows and spaces to grow mould inside. For me, the Philips has poor design, poor customer support and has proved to be an expensive waste of money. Might yet be useful to clean limescale from around the taps (though there are much cheaper ways of doing this!) With regrets, I cannot recommend it at all.
Cleans well - at first. Expensive to run. Goes mouldy. Avoid.
Cleans well, when the bristles are new and the battery is in good condition.
After about four weeks the bristles on the brush go soft. Replacements are extremely expensive. Work out how much you'll pay to buy 13 brush heads each year.
After a couple of days off-charge, the battery runs down a bit and the cleaning power is reduced.
Inside the brush head grows a disgusting black mould. Very hard to clean out due to the complex shape of the moulding inside the head.
After a year, the battery on mine died. Now it keeps turing itself off part-way through the cycle, even after a full recharge.
Good idea. Bad implementation.
Just avoid.
Very poor design
I have to agree with the other reviews here. The replacement head is really badly designed and lets water into the chamber inside. This then forms a disgusting 'gunk' inside the head, and is impossible to clean effectively. Save your money and avoid this porduct.
