Synopsis
The Manual of Zen Buddhism, written by author and essayist Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki, is a work that was instrumental and spreading far eastern philosophy to the west. As stated by the author, the object of this book, is to inform the reader of the various literary materials relating to the monastery life. Foreign students often express their desire to know about what the Zen monk reads before the Buddha in his daily service, where his thoughts move in his leisure hours, and what objects of worship he has in the different quarters of his institution. This work will satisfy their desire.

Don't buy this edition of this book
While this book does contain the text of the Manual of Zen Buddhism by D T Suzuki, it looks like it has been OCR'd from a previous edition (since the copyright has now lapsed - this is mentioned in the first few pages of the book) and very little thought has been applied to the layout as appears in this edition. For example, footnotes are randomly interspersed in the text and are in the same font as the text itself, and there is no discriminating layout to make the differentiation between footnote and text. Obviously, this make the book somewhat difficult to read. Any other edition of this text (that has been properly typeset) is preferable.
