Synopsis
THE MASTER OF PROPHECY is BENJAMIN FORD'S sequel to MASTER OF THE SCROLLS, picking up fifteen years after the extraordinary events witnessed in that novel. In the East Sussex village of Neville Hill, Louise McFadyen is revisited by a ghost from her past, warning of the imminent return of an ancient evil. In the neighbouring village of Elendale, Matthew Silverthorne visits a house that is for sale. He is unsuccessful in his bid to purchase it, but a year later, the old woman who bought Four Oaks has died, leaving the property to Matthew in her will. Struggling to unravel the mysteries that have embroiled their families, Louise and Matthew cross paths, with devastating consequences for everyone. Evil plans of revenge for centuries old misdeeds are set in motion. What connects these events to a terrible prophecy made in the First Century? Who was Elaine Oakhurst, and why did she leave Four Oaks to Matthew, a man she had never met? Who is the mysterious man, Max Revenant, who seems to appear and disappear at will? Crossing the boundaries into the realm of Elen, the Wood Witch, the truth must be uncovered if the ancient prophecy is to be prevented...before it is too late.

Even better than the first book!5
Got given a copy of the first book (Master of the Scrolls) for christmas and really liked it so I bought this one myself (actually ordered it from the author himself in amazon market place and got a signed copy).

Enjoyed this book even more than the first one, as it takes the story in a new and slightly darker direction. One of the secondary characters from the first book, Louise, is the focus of this book and it gives the book a slightly different character.

It is an interesting continuation of the first book and obviously leads onto a third, as yet un-published, book.

Any fan of Barbara Erskine or Diana Gabaldon will probably find this series interesting as it's in the same vein but with it's own style.

Now just waiting for book 3!!!

fantastic sequel to Master of the Scrolls5
After Benjamin Ford's stunning debut with Master of the Scrolls, I have been eagerly awaiting this sequel, and it doesn't disappoint. Plotting is tighter than the first novel, with enough red herrings to keep you guessing who is possessed by who... and why! The anger that follows three separate spirits down through the century is the result of a terrible misunderstanding that ended in a murder centuries ago. I won't spoil oit by telling you whether the anger is resolved or not. It was great to see Thaumaturgia Anathemas back again, and we get to meet her mother and find out more about the pair of them this time... and Sawyl Gwilym is back too! Somehow I don't think we've seen the last of him! We are promised a further sequel to complete the trilogy, and I for one can't wait!

Miss this one at your peril.
