japanese flute music
A beautifully produced and hauntingly lovely recording of Shakuhachi Japanese flute music recorded in 1976 in New York during the Ensemble Nipponia's first tour of US. However at just 33minutes 28seconds long it does leave one wanting rather more for one's money.
Haunting
The Shakuhachi is a Japanese wind instrument that produces a beautifully haunting sound and is played here by Kôhachiro Miyata. This CD includes five pieces of music played on the Shakuhachi, all of which are relaxing and a pleasure to hear. The front slip of the CD also includes a brief history and description of the Shakuhachi as well as information about the pieces played and Kôhachiro Miyata himself. This is a greatly beautiful CD and although I would admit it probably wouldn't be to everyone's taste, anybody interested in oriental music, and Japanese music in particular, should greatly enjoy this CD.
