Starting with the early experiments that led to the Model F at Dearborn in 1917, this book follows the development of the Fords on through to the Model N and the E27N to the widely successful Diesel Major and its little brother, the Dexta. This accounts details Fordson production in Britain, covering both Cork and Dagenham, and making full mention of the personalities involved. Many of the little-known prototypes are described as well. A major section of the book is devoted to the American tractor line, re-established in 1939 with the 9N built in collobaration with Harry Ferguson. The book concludes in 1964, just before the introduction of the "worlwide" 6X range.

The Ford Tractor Story: Dearborn to Dagenham 1917-64 Pt. 1
This is a historical account of the beginnings of the Ford tractor and how massed production of the units made them affordable. Stuart Gibbard goes into detail of how this early production (of all makes really) helped with food production in Britain and Europe at the end of WWI and how it helped with the war effort and also food production in Britain during WW2. The book is a good story and a reference volume all tied up into one and personally it has made me think how far and fast the technology in making these machines advanced in a space of less than 100 years. If you like Ford tractors then you will enjoy this book and also look out for all the other books Stuart has had published on turning the Ford skid units into other tractors and machinery.
