Killzone is a squad-based, first-person shooter, set in the near future during a period of planetary colonization. Drawing inspiration from classical military conflicts of the 20th century, Killzone demonstrates a unique graphical style that captures the grit and realism of intense military warfare. Featuring online gameplay via the Network Adaptor (Ethernet/modem) (for PlayStation®2) with voice-chat capabilities via the USB Headset (for PlayStation®2), Killzone is based on classic military altercations found in the history of warfare; players will battle through trenches, endure city sieges, sweat through jungles and battle guerilla combatants.

Customer Reviews
Oh there's a single player game?
I,actually my brother, got this the christmas it came out but couldn't get on with gamepad controls so said I could play it,I'd heard some guff about glitchy graphics and the like but more on them later,to date I still haven't finished the campaign, not because It's bad or anything,my original PS2 pad broke and the replacement third party one is poor at FPS games, thankfully I can use the grey one from the PSOne.
The graphics, yes, they were simply gob-smacking when I first put the game on and the glitches are only noticeable during deathmatches on the bigger maps,I haven't really noticed them in the campaign as yet,Gamespot said the game had weapons that don't feel right and tonnes of graphical glitches,it has some glitches which are more than bearable and as for the weapons,it has to be one of the few games you can face a minigun-wielding opponenet with a pistol and come off better,a single headshot whilst they faff about reloading makes the glitches seem even less relevant.
I have Halo 1 and 2 and haven't finished either of them yet,the second one mainly as the Arbiter sections are boring and in both cases, there's no multiplayer offline.
Utterly Underrated
I agree with other interviews about being initially put off with all the (misguided) early comparisons with Halo. When I got this game it was cheap and WHAT A BARGAIN! It's got atmosphere, an interesting story, and most of all - the gameplay rocks.
The weapons feel like they could be real and despite being Sci-Fi they're absolutely spot on. Only recently with games like Half-Life 2 and CofD 4 do you really need have the to nail your target unless you're using major hardware. Tonnes of fun.
An overlooked gem.
