Customer Reviews

Useful guide with some shortcomings!3
The island of cyprus is not a big island, but it has a really long and colourful history. The guide on hand does underline this fact and illustrates nicely the immense variety of architectonics found on this island. It has also features on the natural beauty, so lot to see. I found especially the small maps of city centres and the overviews of major attractions (churches, castles, monasteries, ancient cities) very useful. The photoes are for a good reason too, in order to know sort of what to look for and where to find it.
What it lacks is the current buzz and leisure tips, of how expensive it is to live and eat, where to go with children etc. It also doesn't tell you the grim military presence of all the armies present there with all the barbed wire and closed areas. The island is in this way made much smaller!
One striking fault in this book is not a word about UNESCO heritage sites! Paphos, Churches in Troodos region and Choirokitia were added on the list between 1980-1998. This guide from 2008 is oblivious to this fact and doesn't even list them all!
Lastly, the guide should be updated more often, because the building activity on Cyprus is immense and what was once perhaps a serene place may suddenly not be that anymore!

Maybe the best place in Europe for sun and sea3
Generally a good book. My only complain is there are about 100's churches information inside the book. But the main beauty of the island is nature and lovely beaches not the churches.
