From the Author
I have written this book for people who are seeking a lifestyle change to help them through a process of decision making in the first instance. This process enables them to decide whether they really want to give up what they have to make the change they think they want to make.

If the decision is now certain, I have tried to give simple and even logical steps to begin a search for a property and then make a case to a potential lender, to enable the purchase to take place.

Thereafter, I have given down to earth tips which I hope will allay fears that begin to appear when it is time to get down to the "nitty gritty" of running a guesthouse or small hotel.

I have stressed the need for systems and processes and the great need for good communication between partners. I have also stressed learning how to "work smart and not hard" although it is fair to say that a business like this does involve some hard work.

I have tried to cover the different "departments" and have also shown how to inject quality into the process. Most importantly, throughout, I have stressed that the key to success is satisfying the customer's needs and meeting and if possible exceeding their expectations.

Customer Reviews

The best book on b & b's5
You can't buy better than this. It covers everything you need to think about and know when planning to start a b & b. The authors own experience shine's through, in a well written, very useful book. I was able to assess what size business was right, what to look out for when buying, planning of day to day running, marketing and booking keeping. Using the advise in this book I was able to write my own business plan which was praised and accepted by all the financial institiutes I apporach.

GREAT BOOK4
I was given this book by a friend and find it to be very informative. I'm not sure why one reviewer called it boring. 'How to' books were not meant to be exciting novels, they are meant to show someone how to do something. This book shows step by step the best way to run your own guesthouse and gives the reader the chance to decide if this business is for them. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing and running their own guesthouse. I would like to thank the author for doing such a great job. He helped me make my decision.

Very helpful5
Covers all aspects in a very practical and helpful way - right down to how to divide your time throughout the day, and how many changes of bedlinen you need. I found it made me really focus on the day to day aspects, as well as giving helpful advice on longer term activities such as marketting. I would certainly recommend this if you are thinking of taking on or starting up a b and b.
