Customer Reviews
Very good performer
I bought this kettle about a month ago but it was the white plastic version. I must say I have been extremely pleased with it so far. It does just what it says on the tin; it boils quickly and very quietly (one of the quietest kettles I have used and a great improvement on the previous Krups kettle I had, which sounded like a jet taking off; the spout is quite large and it pours well; it is easy to fill and the the water volume window is easy to see and read (and gently illuminated during boiling). All in all a very good, practical kettle. Just what you want. I'd buy one again on this initial evidence.
Best Buy
I'm very pleased with this kettle. It's very quiet, and it actually BOILS for a few seconds, unlike many others which barely reach the boil before clicking off.
The spout is wide, so it's easy to fill from this area, and the whistle is subtle.
Once the water is switched on to boil the blue illuminated panel glows softly.
The kettle is fairly heavy once filled, but also stable.
All in all it's the best kettle I've bought in a long while.
had to get a replacement base after less than a year
When i first bought this kettle i would have given it 4 - 5 stars as it looks great and I love the fact that it whistles. It has a generous sized window to see the level of water which also lights up during heating.
However less than a year after buying it I had to ring Morphy Richards as the base was crackling during boiling! The whistle had also stopped working. I am not sure if it was due to water inside the base or a fault.
I rang Morphy Richards customer service who were great and advised me to cut the plug off and dump the kettle. They then sent me a new one within 3 days. A slight disappointment was that the replacement kettle was a slightly different shade of red and not as good a match for my kitchen (this is me being very fussy!)
Overall a good product.
I would say the positives:
Good whistle which can be muted if not required.
Nice designfor a jug kettle
Negatives
Sometimes the level looks full (water condensation?) when actually it is empty.
Would i buy again? I bought this purely on looks to match my kitchen so it would depend on whether there was another make out there that looked better when this one bites the dust. If there wasn't I would be happy to replace with the same.
