A great kettle
I like this kettle because the spout is part of the body (no irritating leaks where some spouts join the kettle body), it's relatively quiet for a rapid boil kettle, looks good, light weight, well balanced and is easy to fill. My only criticism is I would change the whistle when the kettle boils (you can turn it off). A great buy.
So far so brilliant!
Our last kettle was a M R Filtermaster that we had for many many years. On that basis we again chose Morphy Richards and so far we are extremely pleased.
It is light in weight, easy to hold and fill through the spout and it boils rapidly.
The whistle can be turned on/off by means of a simple switch in the base.
If I was to be really critical I would say that when boiling water for just two cups of tea/coffee it does, perhaps, stay on maximum boil for just that little bit too long.
However, based on our own experience, I have no hesitation in recommending this item to anyone who looks for efficiency coupled with VFM.
Good so far
Only had this a week or so but happy so far as it looks and performs very well. Quick to boil and a nice big handle on it. The water level indicator is good with cup levels on it.
A few things to note:
The blue light only comes on when the kettle is boiling up unlike other kettles that remain lit 24/7 wasting electricity.
The lid is a bit of a hassle to open as it doesn't have a push button to flip it up, rather a catch that you push in and lift upwards - the description doesn't really make that clear. However the spout is quite big and I like that as I fill it from a Brita water filter jug rather than directly from the tap. You should always fill through the spout wherever possible anyway as the limescale filter will then help filter the water.
It is light compared to my last Kettle that was made of metal.
I turned off the whistle after the second boil - it's a bit of a gimmick and I didn't need it.
2 year guarantee too in case something goes wrong.
** EDIT ** - 6 months later (Nov 2009) and the kettle is still working fine so I am happy with it.
