Wear a nice watch - that's all you'll be watching!2
`Duplicity' stars Clive Owen and Julia Roberts as two corporate spies who work for different companies but also together to carry out a complicated con.

If you enjoy disaster films - no, not ones like the Day After Tomorrow or Armageddon, I mean films like Mr & Mrs Smith or Ocean's Twelve - then you may like this film. Otherwise I strongly recommend avoiding this one as it was terrible! It is basically 2 hours of a love-hate relationship between Owen and Roberts (who are both equally annoying as each other) making it feel like a rubbish Cary Grant and Doris Day film but without any of the humour or charm, with a little bit of conspiracy and espionage thrown in. The film's style is trying to be funny but didn't work at all, I was expecting something exciting and suspenseful but instead this is slow and dull as hell. The only point where I did actually enjoy it was the twist at the end which was pretty clever but other than that this film really failed to hold my attention at all - if I hadn't of just paid £10 to see this at the cinema, I would of switched it off within an hour.

Light, amusing in parts3
This is a fun film, lightly amusing in parts, but ultimately quite slight. Others have reviewed the plot, such as it is, so I won't repeat that. Julia Roberts is excellent as the ex-CIA operative, the usually wonderful Clive Owen was, however, less comfortable as the ex-MI5 man. Their bickering yet passionate relationship didn't light any sparks on screen, and really that's what this kind of film relies on. However there were some clever plot twists and Tom Wilkonson and Paul Giametti were superb in their manic portrayals as obsessively warring company executives. If you're looking for light entertainment then this will pass a couple of hours quite happily but don't expect anything more.

I wasn't expecting too much from "Duplicity",but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a satisfying, well constructed pseudo spy thriller which kept me entertained throughout.Julia Roberts and Clive Owen play two government spies who team up to make a killing in the field of corporate espionage by undercovering a major commercial secret and selling it to the highest bidder. They think that they're really clever and masters of duplicity, but they soon come to realise that they're not as in control of their destinies as they would like to think. "Duplicity" is well acted, particularly by Julia Roberts and is an enjoyable film.
