During his lifetime, legendary martial artist Bruce Lee formulated a complex personal philosophy--a synthesis of Eastern and Western ideals--that extolled the virtues of knowledge and total mastery of one's self. However, most of his philosophical writings could be found only within the personal library of the Bruce Lee estate--until now. The Warrior Within is the most comprehensive volume of these teachings, meant to help you apply Lee's philosophies to your own life. This unique guide reveals such life-affirming secrets as:
- Seeing the totality of life and putting things into perspective
- Understanding the concept of Yin and Yang
- Defeating adversity by adapting to circumstances
- Tapping into inner spiritual forces to help shape the future

From the Author
Bruce Lee as philosopher/thinker
The cultivation of the "Warrior Within" has as its first requisite the comprehension of a philosophical perspective that, to many of us in the West, will surely represent a brand-new outlook on life and on the ways of the world. This book is an attempt to present just such a perspective through the philosophical insights left to us by the late Bruce Lee. It has long been my contention that what set Lee apart from every other martial artist of his generation was not his physical prowess (as remarkable as this was) but rather his mind, and that his insights and philosophical perceptions have a much broader application than may have heretofore been considered. While many of us recall growing up in the 70s watching Bruce Lee -- the figher, or Bruce Lee -- the actor; now that we are grown up and, for the most part, with families of our own, it behooves us to take a look at the human being that lay behind the legend. What made Lee so successful? How was he able to overcome such obstacles as racism? And how could a man who only lived 32 years have been so deep, so insightful, and also such a prolific writer, a loyal friend, an attentive father, a devoted husband,a dedicated artist and self-help authority? This book answers these and many other questions about Bruce Lee and his incredible belief system and, I think, positions Lee correctly: not as "the baddest man on the planet", but rather as one of the most intelligent philosophical minds of the 20th century. My contribution then, if you'd care to call it that, is not to the substance of Lee's philosophy, which is entirely his achievement, but rather to the form of its presentation. My intention within the pages of this book is to take both the message and teachings of Bruce Lee and present them in a manner that will, hopefully, have some relevance to your life, whatever your occupation.
About the Author
John Little is uniquely suited to the task of relating the philosophy of Bruce Lee and his approach to life. Little has a degree in philosophy from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, is the author of two books on health and fitness (having spent over fifteen years as a writer for several fitness magazines), and is himself a student of Lee's art of jeet kune do. Selected by the Bruce Lee estate, Little is the only person who has ever been authorized to review the entirety of Lee's personal notes, sketches, and reading annotations and to edit books on the subject of Lee's martial art and its far-reaching philosophical underpinnings. Little's keen awareness of the subtleties of both Eastern and Western philosophy coupled with a respect for the preservation of the essence of Lee's words and meaning give this book an integrity that is all too rare.

A BOOK THAT CHANGES LIVES!
I agree with another reader who called this book "The best philosophy book ever written!" I read this book and it changed my life. I had problems believing in myself, a poor understanding of those around me and of my place in the world. I've read other "self-help" books and even a few philosophy books, but most of them seem to deal with life as an abstract concept -- there was nothing in their writings that spoke to me as a human being and addressed the serious issues in my life. Bruce Lee's teachings have opened my eyes to an entirely new world -- or, at least, an entirely new way of looking at the world. I had always thought that Lee was just an actor or a fighter -- how wrong I was! Mr. Little has done both Bruce Lee and the world of a philosophy a huge favor by taking the time and effort to write this amazing and, quite literally, life-changing book. This is quite simply the best and most helpful book I have ever read. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Buy this book!
I know I am just one happy reader, but out of the 5 books i have read that were concerning Master Bruce Lee this is by far the most enjoyable and inspiring. I am at the moment a brown-white belt in Shotokan Katate and am at the moment interested in the spiritual insight into martial arts. This book is a great guide and WILL improve the understanding of any martial artist. Anyone who is interested in Bruce Lee will definately enjoy this book!
Philosophical garbage
I hold a doctorate in philosophy and must warn people from buying this book. It is written by the ignorant for the ignorant and fails to include the essence of pure philosophical method. Bruce Lee was not a philosopher and this book cannot convince me that he was. If you really must interest yourself in Chinese philosophy, read "The Spell of the Sensuous" for a more well balanced and ecologically aware text. Otherwise you will be brought down by the underlying violence which pervades this repugnant text. I am very sorry that I bought it.
