Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
Jeet Kune Do, the scientific art of streetfighting developed by the late Bruce Lee, is based on real street defence. The training is geared towards realistic combat with none of the fancy forms or techniques that can be seen in many of the other combat arts. This text covers essential areas pertaining to streetfighting; among them are centre line theory, longest weapon to nearest target, an extensive look at the Big Jong position, visual focus principles, intercepting and countless streetfighting applications.

From the Author
This is an in-depth guide to street self defense.
In this, my first book, I present the reader with an in-depth description of Bruce Lee's art of Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do as it applies to self-defense in the street. The book starts out with a description of the technical elements needed to build your self defense arsenal. From there, it goes right into showing how the techniques of Bruce Lee's fighting method are applied in various street scenarios. This book will remind some readers of the books in the Bruce Lee's Fighting Method series.

This masterpiece gives you the in-depth information about Bruce Lees fighting method that other books only touch on. Sifu Lamar Davis is known for having the best world class trapping skills of any living individual. With over 430 excellent photographs this book is must for those interested in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. The write up sections give you the Structure and principals and helps break down some of the Myths about the art that have surfaced since Bruce Lees untimely death. The Bottom line is.......Get it !

An Excellent Resource on Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do5
If you are interested in learning Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do, then I strongly suggest that you look into any product by Sifu Lamar M. Davis II. The man is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the drills, techniques and strategies of the late Bruce Lee.

BIG Sean Madigan Jeet Kune Do Fighting Academy

A Fantasic Guide5
This is a wonderfull Jeet Kune Do reference and guide book. I own many so-called 'self defence manuals' in different martial arts and none are quite as clear or well presented as this.

There is an excellent blend between scientific fact, history, theories, streetfighting applications and crisp photographs.
Master Davis has written a clear guide to JF/JKD that stands up very well when put into a practical situation.

There are different chapters on footwork and mobility, the 'ready' stance (bai jong) and defensive theories (broken down into specific upper and lower body moves). There is also a very usefull chapter on vital strategies for street self defense.

Bruce Lee did not want to give his martial art a name because doing so implied that it was governed by a rigid set of rules and katas. The idea is to take what is usefull to you from any martial art and incorporate it into your style. JUN FAN/JEET KUNE DO is the exact martial art system devised by Bruce Lee ('Jun Fan' is 'Bruce Lee' in Cantonese) and has some quite strict preservation laws to make sure it isn't altered.

What worked for the Little Dragon my not work for you, so bear this mind when reading it. Altogether though this is an excellent book on self defense and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do - the Way of the Intercepting Fist.

Also remember that whilst a book can be usefull in giving you a better understanding of the system, it is NO substitute for physical training. Do not assume you have a grasp of the concepts shown in this book without supervised training by qualified instructors!
