Manufacturer's Description
This class-A rated ergometer is electronically calibrated so you can accurately measure the amount of effort you are using. It’s built with high quality components and unprecedented attention to detail, just take a look at the ‘rapid adjust’ seat height mechanism and ratchet style pedal straps. A target heart rate program means you can direct your workout to specific areas, whether that is burning fat or improving aerobic capacity, and using the wireless heart rate receiver gives even greater levels of heart rate accuracy.

Why use an Exercise Cycle?
Cycling provides the home exerciser with an easy to use, minimal co-ordination activity that is highly efficient in the pursuit of increased fitness and decreased body fat. A cycle is the most space efficient piece of home exercise equipment, is easy to move from room to room and provides the user with a ‘no impact’ workout. It is (as expected) just like riding a bike.
Cardio Vascular Fitness
Cardiovascular exercise is the number 1 way to improve your general health, burn body fat and increase your fitness levels. Assessing your cardiovascular goals is the first step and understanding a little about intensity levels will ensure that the time invested in your exercise sessions returns the greatest benefits, rather than a hit and miss approach.
Cardio for good health: This form of exercise is for those wishing to improve quality of life and general well being and is the one for you if you are not out to break any land speed records. Gentle ‘good health’ cardio training will increase your fitness level to a degree, helping you get through day-to-day tasks more easily and with more energy.
Cardio for weight loss: To see a significant reduction in body fat, your sessions must be a little more intense (between 60 and 70% of your estimated maximum heart rate) than that required for a good health approach. These sessions can also be performed on most days of the week for up to 30 minutes and should ideally be supplemented with some form of strength training.

Sturdy, well appointed Bike
Clear instructions mean this bike can be built in around 45 minutes to an hour. All the parts are clearly labelled.
The bike itself is very good indeed. My previous bike, one with belt resistance, pales in comparison to this magnet braked model. In use it is virtually silent, and the adjustable seat and handlebars should cater for all sizes (the seat also has horizontal adjustment, which make a big difference). The seat is fairly substantial... but it isn't as comfortable as it looks. To be fair though, I think I'll get used to it in time.
There are a fair number of programs ready to use, along with a manual mode and a heart rate controlled mode (HRC). HRC mode is based on your age and endeavours to keep your pulse within a selected range. Some of the programmes are 'very' hard, so unless you have a good fitness level, I would recommend starting on the manual mode and work your way up. There are a number of user profiles, so your setup will be saved for the next time you use it.
The display has the usual time/speed/distance/calories burnt/rpm sections, along with a 'watt' meter and pulse indicator (for the built in handlebar pulse sensors). Note that the speed and distance are in km/h, and I can see no way to change this to miles.
This bike needs to be plugged into the mains, and the mains adapter plugs into the rear of the unit. It isn't the longest lead (around 6ft) so bear that in mind when deciding on a site for it.
The Amazon price is very competitive (and has dropped £13 in the 5 days I've had it!)... I know, I looked at almost every fitness equipment site.
Excellent
I read previous reviews on this product which said that it was very big and not suitable for short people. I contacted York in Australia and England to be told the same thing by them as well. Not convinced, so I drove 100 miles to try it at the nearest outlet to me, I found it was perfect. I am 5ft tall, and very small and I don't even have the seat on the lowest setting. I have turned the handle bars over to make the reach easier, but the reach is a problem with all bikes. However the York is better than most even on that. This means that I can't use the heart rate monitor on the handlebars, but we all know that it is unreliable, I use a chest strap for heart rate which is picked up by the bike and far more accurate.
Easy to assemble, very sturdy. This is the 2nd York bike I have had, the 1st one is on it's 3rd owner now after 10 years and still going strong.
Excellent Value
Great value, but slight damage should have been mentioned. The bike does exactly what I require. Unfortunately, using City Link as the courier meant a 40 mile round trip on a busy Saturday to collect from their depot.
