what a gem!
Based on the last review I bought this cushion, and i'm really glad I did! I read the other reviews about the full seated ones, but I noticed even someone of 5'7" didn't get it working to her shoulders, and to me, that's the most important spot (i'm 5'8"). So, i'm absolutely in heaven with this little genius. There are only 2 options.. heat or no heat, but the circular movements, (and the luxury of heat) are just fine for my needs and I discovered that with some careful manouvering I can get it to work quite deeply on a couple of shoulder boulders i've been carrying about for a looooong time, and it is helping them shift.. though I have to admit that I went a little crazy with it on the first day, and am a bit achy.. but I only have myself to blame there! (It does cut out after 20 mins to let you know)

A lifetime of massage where, when & how you want for around what you'd pay for one session with a practitioner.. what a bargain!!

Hits the spot!
Some 6 months ago I trawled the net for a back massager I could use at home. I work in an office with a not-so-ergonomically-designed chair and I also play football with puts strain of the back muscles. I considered one of those really bulky massage machines that you drape over a chair but read some mixed reviews about it.

This cushion gives a brilliantly comfortable and deep kneading shiatsu massage. You can position it more or less anywhere the body aches. I use it mainly for my lower back, upper back, neck, and feet. It has a 20 minute cut off feature as apparently it's not good to over do it. What I tend to do is just move the cushion to another area once the 20mins is up. I rarely find that I need to use the heat function as it heats up a bit while it's working anyway, this function get use by me just in the winter really. Thankfully, considering this is a furry mechanical cushion, it doesn't heat up to an uncomfortable level even in the summer. The device is very sturdily built, I can lean my back up against it or put some of my weight on it when massaging the feet and the mechanical arms still work very well with neither any buckling nor decrease in speed.

In short:
+VES:

*portable and light (no bulky power pack)
*very good build quality
*You can turn it upside down for a different kind of massage (opposite circular direction)
*Spot massage is best! Forget that rolling up and down the back nonsense

-VES:
*Just one - its not possible to adjust the width of the circling balls but I persoanlly have not missed this feature as I think they are at the optimum distance away for a great feeling massage with no pinching effect.

Overall: Great value for money. You can pay alot more and get alot less for this. I bought one for my grandmother and she loves it too.

It's better than a massage from my wife - but don't tell her!
I have had one of the Homedics seat massagers for almost 3 years now and although it's not something I use every day or even every week I find that when needed it does the job nicely. Unfortunately it doesn't cover the neck or shoulders area for me, so when I spotted this cushion I knew I had to try it.
I have been using the cushion mostly on my neck and shoulders which is where it's intended for, but the shape easily lends itself to be used on legs or arms if you want. It gives a good massage with the intensity being dependent on how firmly you are pressed against it. The pair of rotating massagers work opposite each other to relax tense muscles and ease away aches. To be fair it does work well, and it's really simple to use too - there's only one switch which is well placed on the side of the cushion. The heat function is something that I have used but you don't really need to bother with it. That's because the massaging action creates a warming in the muscles anyway as it increases blood flow to the area.
It's quite a sturdy little thing despite being a handy size which can easily be kept in a drawer. The fabric covering seems to be durable and I haven't found any problems with the cushion at all. I definitely recommend it if you like a decent neck rub, and the good thing is that unlike a partner you don't have to return the favour and give the cushion a massage!
