Product Description

Road racing is a sport that takes man and machine to extremes. These hard roads demand everything - total commitment, total faith - from those who race on them. So what makes these men race? What is the fascination that the sport holds for the riders, their families and the fans? In "Hard Roads", Stephen Davison - the world's number one road-racing photographer and a man who has unparalleled access to the riders - answers that question. In his incredible photographs and accompanying text, he captures the essence of the sport - the all-consuming passion; the incredible skill and speed; and, always, the spectre of death on the horizon. "Hard Roads" is Stephen Davison's unforgettable testament to the sport he loves, a book that captures the sense of the ordinary and the extraordinary that is the essence of road racing.

Customer Reviews

Hard Roads5
I must confess that I'd picked the book up previously in a book shop and wanted to buy it there and then. For those that are into motorcycle sport or just action photography, this is a stunning portfolio that crystalises every moment perfectly. The smell of hot engines, the sudden harsh shriek of an exhaust is practically there. Combined with anecdotes and photographs that help give a hint of the men behind the visor, this is a carefully composed book that's a must have. Definitely one to enjoy on a wet winter evening in the comfort of your favourite armchair.

Brilliant photos4
Bought this as a present for my husband - the images are brilliant - will be buying another one of his books as another present

Awesome Photographs!5
I really enjoyed this book, and as a fellow motorsport photographer, appreciated the quality of the images within. Fan's of Steven Davison's Ragged Edge book will find this one equally interesting, as the author's enthusiasm and close relationship for road racing is very involving. From the extreme feelings of joy when winning a race, to the sad losses of many of the sport's heroes, Davison's writing is the perfect accompaniment to his amazing photographs. If you like motorbike racing then you'll enjoy it!
