Extreme BDSM for deviants...
I'd read so much about this film I knew I had to see it, if only to assure my self that it was really a tame softcore flick that had been over-hyped and sensationalised due to its 'questionable' content.

It wasn't!

Once past the obviously fetishistic Nazi imagery, the film can be peeled down to a standard women-in-prison movie, not a genre I've ever been interested in. Except this one really has the b****s to carry it off....somehow. The scenes of torture are pretty heavy; not unwatchable, as a lot of the 1970s effects aren't very special, blood tends to look more like melted orange ice cream and the overall hamminess of the acting can distract the viewer into sniggering at inoppurtune moments. That said, this film is still essentialy 'wrong' on so many levels it's just not true, and I doubt it could even get made today! That alone is probably enough to keep those who aren't easily offended glued to the screen to the end.

The amount of flesh on display is staggering, so sexploitation fans will get their fill. But I honestly see this film as more of a brutal S & M picture than anything else. We have flogging in pillories, whipping, hanging, genital torture, nipple torture, watersports, electric shock torture, branding and mutilation, giving viewers who follow the extreme sexual lifestyle a whole lot to chew on. Submissive types will get an awesome kick out of the lead character, played to the hilt by the incredible Ms Thorne (who was about 40 at the time). Dominants can probably smirk smugly at the rather wimpy flogging technique her lesbian lieutenants employ. The curious may well find something to interest them, or even arouse them. Fans of cult & exploitation cinema simply have to own this picture, or at least rent this uncut version but my bet is that probably at least half the general population will be repelled, the rest bored or possibly seriously offended. It's not PC, it's not clever or especially cool but you can't deny it's ability to leave an impression upon the viewer - even if only one of staggered disbelief at the almost satanic levels of nerve and audacity on display!
