Synopsis
In DARROW, Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey portrays Clarence Darrow, the daring American lawyer who took on some of the most difficult and groundbreaking cases around the turn of the 20th century. Called the Lawyer for the Damned by some, Darrow's defences of the Pullman railroad strike, the Leopold and Loeb murder trial, and the Scopes monkey trial earned him the status of an authentic American hero. The film also features Chris Cooper as well as Calista Flockhart and Donal Logue in early screen appearances.

From the Back Cover
Some called him "Lawyer for the Damned"but Clarence Darrow was simply a man who, in time of justice, had the courage to stand alone.

Oscar winning actor Kevin Spacey (American Beauty) gives another breathtaking performance as Clarence Darrow, a name permanently linked to the tremendous strides in the American Legal system from the late 19th century through the early decades of the 20th century. This charismatic and one-time farm boy's history-making legal defences of the Pullman Railroad Strike, the Leopold/Leob Murder Trial and the Scopes Monkey Trial, have earned him the status of an authentic American hero.

Powerful BIopic4
This is a powerful film featuring a magnificent performance from Kevin Spacey as Clarence Darrow, a lawyer who fought against injustice and for the rights of the exploited, making him a legendary American hero of the people. I found this film an important history lesson into the dreadful working conditions for many Americans at the turn of the last Century and a good insight into how the American Legal system worked at that time. Kevin Spacey is completely captivating throughout, giving, in my opinion, one of the best performances of his career. This man can do no wrong! I can thoroughly recommend this film to anyone.

I expected more from the movie and the cast.2
I usually don't sleep through a movie with a talent like Kevin Spacey taking center stage. This unfortunately was an exception. Prehaps it was the theme, prehaps it was the awful makeup applied to age the characters, or maybe it was because the film never engaged the viewer. The film was story telling at a primary level and not even Kevin with his unique ability to slip into the skin of the characters he portrays could save this one. Sorry I was expecting a lot more.
