The BBC at its best
One of the best BBC drama productions, with an excellent cast-
Richard Chamberlain, Edward Fox and Suzanne Neve were all marvellous.

A wonderful, if slightly dated, version
This BBC version of Henry James' novel is both more true to the original book and more entertaining than the more recent Nicole Kidman version. It is a mini series rather than being film length and is beautifully acted. It also has fewer pretensions than the modern version and, despite being slightly dated (it was filmed in the 1970s), is an excellent, and very moving, version.
