Although Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant display little on-screen romantic chemistry in Two Weeks Notice, by having them do what they do best the film manages to work around the missing key ingredient. Bullock is on top form as a bumbling but clever woman who is left ashore by her eco-warrior boyfriend and begins to work (against her better judgement) for Grant, the well-spoken and charming yet inept public face of a multi-million-pound building empire. Although sparks conspicuously fail to fly between them, the two make for genial pals and, as a result, the fact that little romance is evident until the end is actually a bonus.

It would be easy to dismiss this as just another Hollywood star vehicle, a formulaic rom-com that could have been produced anytime in the last 50 years or so. But it is impossible to deny that, although offering nothing new, the script does at least work well. In casting the stars exactly to type, making no social comment and leaving the audience happily gorged on feel-good vibes by the end, if nothing else Two Weeks Notice at least offers universal appeal. --Nikki Disney

Millionaire George Wade (Hugh Grant) doesn't make a move without Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind, she also has an ulcer and doesn't get much sleep. It's not the job that's getting to her: it's George. Smart, charming and undeniably self-absorbed, he treats her more like a nanny than a Harvard-trained lawyer - and can barely choose a tie without his help. Now, after months of calling the shots, on everything from his clothes to his divorce settlements, Lucy Kelson is calling it quits. Although George makes it difficult for Lucy to leave the Wade Corporation, he finally agrees to let her go - but only if she finds her own replacement. After a challenging search, she hires an ambitious young lawyer (Alicia Witt) with an obvious eye on her wealthy new boss. Confronted with the fact that Lucy is literally sailing out of his life, George faces a decision of his own: is it ever too late to say "I love you"?

Business and love collide!
This is an enjoyable film well worth a watch, with good comedy moments and a nice simple story line.

Lucy (Sandra Bullock) plays a brilliant Harvard law graduate who usually uses her talents to fight thoughtless real-estate developers. She meets "the enemy" George Wade (Grant) who is going to knock her local community centre down, but ends up working for him in exchange for saving the building.

He is a carefree, seemingly shallow, rich playboy and Lucy finds herself used more to help choose George's ties and advise on his girlfriends than use her talents in a worthy way. She gives "two weeks notice" but strangely George has come to like her. He eventually shows himself to be far from shallow and even makes Lucy realise that she isn't always honest about her feelings or makes it easy for a man to love her.

In the end however business and love interests collide and difficult choices have to be made. Your choice is simple however, buy this film and enjoy watching it!

one of the best romantic comedies in the last twenty years
I've watched Two Weeks Notice five times and this will give you some idea of the quality of this film.A good storyline that moves at a fast pace,tremendous acting,humorous and intelligent dialogue,a believable and involving rapport between Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock,and the whole thing set in some gorgeous locations in and around New York city.One of the best romantic films I have seen in the last twenty years or so.The extras section of the dvd is nothing special but don't worry about that because the main feature is something special.Hugh Grant is best known for his role in Four Weddings And A Funeral but he should be better known for other roles like this one as George Wade - where he plays a more sophisticated character in a more sophisticated film.

Never listern to what the critics might say
OK not brilliant not enthralling, not the best script you have ever heard, not the best film you will ever see but i don't know it just has something about it that well, grabs you and you watch until the end. You buy it on DVD and watch it (well you never went to the cinema to see it!) and you enjoy in a mindless sort of way and then on an evening when you are bored by the TV you look through your DVD collection and you pull it out and watch it again and you enjoy it. Hugh Grant is, well Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock is, oh i do not know what Sandra Bullock is but it does not matter. Drink heavily and get mildly amused. There are worse films the list is to long!
