Amazing5
I've always loved Joby Talbot's music for The League of Gentlemen's television series, and his score for the League's film "Apocalypse" is even better. Fans of the show will be delighted to with Mr. Talbot's reworking of old material- the show's theme entwines itself into many pieces here, and the haunting, ethereal tune that closes out the last episode of the third series also ends the film. The old pieces have all been completely redone, so they sound big, epic even, more appropriate for the film. The new music is incredible, too- I particularly enjoyed "Have You Seen Me", which starts slow, then crashes into waves of percussion and piano, then stops on a dime, suddenly ambient, spooky. "It's A Miracle" is another highlight, but the entire soundtrack is a gem. I highly recommend it to anyone, particularly fans of the show/movie.

A perfect comedy score!5
Joby Talbot understands that a comedy score doesn't have to be made of "cartoonish" cues and "please laugh here" themes (although he did some of those in his "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" soundtrack, but they were good!). In his "Apocalypse" soundtrack, he gives an even more epic scope to the already dramatic score from the series, using some old themes and creating quite amazing new ones. Everything sounds cool and, sometimes, even touching (the end credits theme is an inspired re-hash of the music piece he composed for the end of The League of Gentlemen series 3, and it's simply beautiful). He's a terrific composer mastering pop, classical and film music with great class.

Brilliant soundtrack. A Must for LoG & Talbot fans5
Joby Talbot's close association with the LoG happily continues with his film score for the League's first film. It is a truly exceptional soundtrack, in its range, scope & depth.

Talbot's music for the League's three tv series' set a new standard for tv title & score music which no-one has come close to matching (the League's acknowledged love of films was a major influence on the look of the series & the amazingly high production values that the three series' achieved).

Talbot's film score easily matches the best of his tv work for the LoG. The variety of musical styles he has created here mirrors the film's complex, innovative narrative.

My favourites are the funkish 'Leaving for London' & the melodic, beautiful 'It's a Miracle'.

However the highpoint is the film's end titles - a lush re-working of the stunning 'While There's Still Time' from the LoG's brilliant 3rd series. The sweeping orchestration of this piece is inspiring - I think its Talbot's best compositional work so far.

This is the first time that any of Joby Talbot's distinctive work for the League has been released commercially (will the LoG's tv series' music be made available at some point?)

I really hope that the League & Talbot's creative partnership continues - it has produced inspired, original & brilliant work in the past & this OST is a logical progression of their close working relationship.

The OST for the League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse is a must for fans of both the League and Joby Talbot - two sets of geniuses in perfect harmony.
