Synopsis
In this dazzling sequel to the 1995 blockbuster, Andy heads off to summer camp, leaving the toys behind to fend for themselves. In much the same way Buzz discovered he is a mass-produced product in the first instalment, Woody discovers that he is a valuable collectible spawned by a popular 1950s kiddie-puppet TV show, 'Woody's Roundup Gang' when he is kidnapped by an evil toy collector, Al McWhiggin. Through Al, who plans to sell him to a Japanese toy museum, Woody is reunited with the toy versions of his TV cohorts plucky cowgirl Jessie (Cusack), prospector Stinky Pete (Grammer), and trusty horse Bullseye. Woody must choose between seeing Andy grow up and forsake him and living a sterile but eternal life behind glass being admired but not played with. Meanwhile, the rest of the original toy troupe undergoes a thrilling crosstown adventure to locate their kidnapped friend and restore him his rightful owner. Extremely entertaining, surprisingly touching, endlessly thrilling eye candy for anyone of any age. Golden Globe Winner: Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

Should have been an oscar winner
These days I refuse to watch most CGI movies, mainly because they can run them off a mill as many times a year as they want. For me, Toy Story 2 represents the pinnacle of Computer based films. Touching, funny, and even better looking than its predecessor, this is easily one of the greats from Pixar. I say this now because with such average attempts over the recent years such as Antz, Madagascar, and Cars, the 90's proved that its better to wait 3/4 years for a film that's quality, rather than a glut of lame attempts to cash in.
It sounds and looks even better than the video version of course (believe me, the colours are enhanced hundreds of times better than on the video) and should be bought with the original!
way far better than the first movie
toy story 2 is by far better than the very first movie. it is funnier and more exciting than the first movie. i gave the first movie a few tries but it just isnt that good! this movie i like as much as monsters inc and i watch both of them every few days a week! in this movie, my favorite character is rex, because he makes me laugh!! woody gets kidnapped and the other toys like buzz lightyear, rex, hamm, mr potato head, and slinky dog go to a toy store and rescue woody. i also like the fact that the toys drive a truck to the airport! probably my lest favorite character is the prospector because he hit buzz and he tears woody's arm again. i also like jessie and the coughing wheezy too they are pretty good. all in all this is a very good movie. buy this and monsters inc for two of the greatest movies.
Better than number one ...
Usually most sequals are a let down but this film is and exeption. Leaving behind a three star rating in film one to come up to four in number two. The whole film is different, more exiting, more funnies and more family-friendly. No evil, toy-destroying , bad boy Sid in this one.
Woody, Andy's favoutite toy, a cowboy tires to save an old friend who is being sold at a garage sale unfortuately a certain man Woody and steals him even though he's not for sale. We find out that this "Al" is a collector of the old cowboy toys. He has the old stinky Pete, Bulleseye and energetic cowgirl, Jessie. Unfortunatly, he needs Woody to join the rare set and armed with these toys he can go to Turkey and become rich man. (The toy meusem will pay big big moeny for the set...)
WOODY has to make some tough decisions...
