Overlooked TV Classic4
This is the 1981 BBC adaption made just after the 1980 Pride and Prejudice with Irene Richard as Elinor having been Charlotte Lucas in Pride and Prejudice. It comes as six half hour episodes on a single DVD. Picture and sound are both very good but not outstanding.

It's a pretty good adaption that covers more of the plot than the feature film vesrion. Irene Richard is an outwardly calm, inwardly tormented Elinor. Its unfair to call her cold just because modern taste wants more outward passion. It's there alright just concealed and the actress suggests it admirably. Tracey Childs as Marianne is excellent as a teenager looking for love but finding the first choice is often the wrong one.

The latest TV adaption is pretty good too but different in tone and more "realistic" pictorially.

Very faithful to the book!3
This was a very pleasant, enjoyable adaptation, and it was refreshing that it was faithful to the book. I thought the characters much more believeable than those in the film version. The only thing that bothered me was at the end Colonel Brandon recommended books to Marianne that were straight out of Northanger Abbey! I don't think Marianne's character lends her to enjoying something like Mysteries of Udolpho! Perhaps the programme makers got the stories mixed up or something????????

cringeworthy1
I didnt think i would find any adaptation of my favorite novel unwatchable and boring but this is. It makes the other adaptations look even better. Im sorry i wasted time trying to watch this.
