Synopsis
Survival thriller WILDERNESS finds a group of young offenders sent away to a military boot camp on a remote and supposedly uninhabited island. However, rehabilitation takes a backseat to unimaginable terror once they discover that they are not alone on the island. A deranged psychopath--trained and equipped like an experienced hunter--lurks in their midst, picking off his victims one by one using a variety of deadly booby traps and ravenous dogs. British director Michael J Bassett (DEATHWATCH) unleashes a relentless, brutal and unforgiving assault on these ill-fated miscreants, throwing in more gore than you can shake a bloodied limb at.

Customer Reviews

Not as bad as it could have been.3
This is my first review on here, so I'll keep it short.
I bought this low budget Brit-flick from a going-out-of-business shop, for a couple of quid.
Last night, I had nothing else to watch, so with some reservation, I popped it into the dvd player and stared cynically at my 28 inch sony!
I'm not going to claim its a GREAT film, it ISNT.
but, it's NOT an awful film either.
Its a lot better than some of the garbage ive seen, (and compared to the recent Halloween remake, its a 5 star masterepiece!)
Give it a try, support the UK film industry, and watch the extras, for an insight into how much work actually goes into making this type of film, that most people (including myself) usually dismiss instantly!

pretty gripping4
i bought this for my boyfriend and we watched it this evening. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised, for within the first ten minutes i had assumed it was going to be a poorly made, brit film about wanna be gangsters who commit various crimes, however i was wrong. The different ways in which the certain characters are killed was cleverly thoughtout and i have to say some of the deaths were certainly intriguing if not very gruesome!!!you'll understand when you see the dogs!!!
all in all a good overall performace and an interesting take on young offenders life, i just hope i'm never sent to an island like that for commiting a crime!!!!

Pointlessness2
The problem with this film is the basic premise: Young Offenders. You instantly hate most of them, and the one "hero" isn't very likable either. So basically you don't care about anyone. Sean Pertwee obviously need beer money to take on this nonesense. He and indeed none of the other characters are given anything like character building time that we might actually like them. The one character we might like (a female young offenders officer) is taken out pretty quickly only to return for a pointless death scene later on. How this got money I don't know - there are supposed to be people watching things like this, but still hundreds of thousands of pounds have found their way into this rather basic, rather unbelievable very predictable rubbish. I can't actually recommend this film on any level. But considering the director also made Deathwatch - another pointless piece of nonesense - it just begs the question of how these people get money for drivel like this.
