Synopsis
The White House comes under scrutiny in Aaron Sorkin's politically-charged--and therefore controversial--drama THE WEST WING. The series follows the life and times of President Jed Bartlet (Martin Sheen), who's constantly immersed in scandal and impossible decisions. Mirroring real-world events--such as the Monica Lewinsky affair, George W. Bush's 2000 election, the September 11 attacks, and global terrorism--the show's unique ability to tap into the viewer's social conscience, while serving up top notch entertainment, remains unparalleled. Despite its overtly liberal stance, President Bartlet possesses virtues even a conservative could admire. It's this political dichotomy that gives the show its edge. Support comes from Rob Lowe, Stockard Channing, and Moira Kelly, who each turn in stellar performances. This release includes all seven series of THE WEST WING.

Dont buy if your busy!!5
The only reason you should not buy this box set is that it will consume your life. If you have caught an episode on UK TV (although unlikely due to ridiculous late night scheduling) the commercial breaks detract from the fast paced delivery which is a cornerstone of the programme. Be warned, I have found it almost impossible to watch just one episode at a time. The friend who recommended the West Wing to me was given the first series on DVD for Xmas and watched 11 episodes back to back. On Xmas day! With his wife equally enhtralled! His daughter was pretty much left to fend for herself. It really does draw you in like no other programme I have seen. I laughed. I cried. I spent entire days watching nothing but WW. If only the real White house staff were this educated, informed, caring and honest, the world would be a better place.
Buy it now, you will not be sorry but be prepared. It will consume all of your free time.

To the point....5
I would like to write a long review, detailing all of the good points about this series, about the cleverness of the writing, the depth of the characters, the incredible acting and so on, but I find myself physically unable to say anything about this program except: Buy it. Buy it now. Buy it now and you will be hooked forever.
That is all I have to say.
Brilliant.

One of the best written drama series, ever5
This is an exceptionally well written series that got better and better. This is US drama at its best. Well written rounded characters, sharply written dialogue and believable plotlines.

I brought the season 1 video, then seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, before buying the seasons 1-7 box set. Just wish Josiah Barlett was the real US president.
