Visually stunning. Great adventure story with stunning sound, acting, helicopter scenes etc.

(This is the whole boxset, but comments refer to the first) My favourtie horror movie, jaw-dropping in concept and economic in storytelling and run-time. A masterpiece.

The first three are (in descending order) majestic horror/sci-fi epics by amazing directors. The fourth is by an amazing director.

Again an early Walter Hill classic, very raw and stylised, an over-looked "New York" movie thats up there with "Taxi Driver" and "Annie Hall" in my eyes as a study of the city that never sleeps.

Another one I was delighted to see on Dvd this month. A beautiful tale of suburban parnoia that taps into American culture with sardonic wit and humour. Joe Dante is another one of my fav directors.

I love the wit of this movie, taking the 80's teen culture and turning it on its head. Way ahead of its time with a star-making turn from Christian Slater.

Probably Tarantino's best so far, just pipping Reservoir Dogs, full of humour and excellent pacing and storytelling with Tarantino's fantastically relaxed, yet explosive direction.

This is a cold and emotionless romance, that captures the beauty of the characters surroundings while never judging or forgiving its ruthless leads. They don't make films this unjudgmental today.

Haven't watched this for ages, but Nicholson is amazing in this one and the story is cleverly told. Looks amazing too.

This is a really intelligent and well told independant picture that remembers the great cinema of the 70's while adding modern touches. Stunning.

Another one of my fav directors John McTeirnan, follows up Predator with another action classic. Bruce Willis' starmaking performance.

An uplifting classic told in the old fashioned way, I fell in love with this film the first time I watched it.

A stunning film, courtesay of one of the hot talents in the film world, Wes Anderson. One of the few directors who manages to do something new and interesting with cinema. Oh and Murray is amazing.
