	Rome: The Complete HBO Season 1 (6 Disc Box Set) [2005] Buy new: £19.48 / Used from: £12.37 Betrayal, action, violence, sex. Great television melodrama
	Ancient Rome The Rise And Fall Of An Empire [2006] Buy new: £14.98 / Used from: £10.74 BBC quality drama documentary. In the best episode there's a chilling performance by Michael Sheen as Nero.
	Gladiator (3 Disc Extended Special Edition) [2000] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £3.67 Good story and great action scenes but the dialogue scenes slow the film to a full stop.
	Alexander - Director's Cut [2004] Buy new: £1.00 / Used from: £0.74 Wooden, plodding and seemingly interminable. For me one of the worst films of the last decade. Ridiculous accents. Woefully miscast.
	Troy : The Movie & More (2 Disc Special Edition) [2004] Buy new: £2.33 / Used from: £1.99 Plenty of CGI action. Tells a good story if not the 'historically' correct one.
	Monty Python's Life Of Brian [1979] Buy new: £1.89 / Used from: £1.59 The glowy that was Wome. One of the funniest films ever made.
	Helen Of Troy [2003] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £4.00 Sienna Guillory looks ravishing: the film looks OK.
	Rome: The Complete HBO Season 2 (5 Disc Box Set) [2006] Buy new: £25.48 / Used from: £21.50 Even better than the excellent first series. Even more betrayal, action, violence, sex.
	Spartacus [2004] Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £4.39 Underrated. Excellent performances. To watch things in order you might try this, then Rome 1, then Rome 2, then I, Claudius then both 'Nero' and 'Rebellion' from the BBC Ancient Rome series above.
	Nero [2005] Buy new: £11.98 Disappointing. Hollywood style Euro production. Nero comes over as a hero, more or less. Lots of intrusive romantic scene-setting music to spoil things further.
