Some of the best performances around...
I'm suprised nobody has written a review for this yet - these are high calibre, critically acclaimed performances in spectacular sound.

The 6 numbered Symphonies are here, plus Jansons' marvellous "Manfred" Symphony and also the Capriccio Italien.

Nicely packaged in a glossy card box with card sleeves printed to look like leather.

If you are looking for a truly excellent, all-round set of Tchaikovsky's symphonies, Jansons is surely a top recommendation!

If you like Tchaikovsky, you'll love this ...
This cycle is quite simply superb.

I have a number of Tchaikovsky symphony sets & have had my interest in these symphonies re-ignited by these recordings. Janssons & the Oslo Philharmonic have captured the essence of these great works bringing a wonderful clarity. The Manfred symphony is as good as I've heard in ages & they have thrown in a lovely verion of the Capriccio Italien (Opus 45) to boot.

This box set is a steal.

Very nice but..
This is beautiful music played beautifully but ,personally, I find the orchestra a little far back in these recordings.I prefer the music to sound more "immediate" and I like to feel a greater sense of involvemennt.I like the sensation of "being there" and I don't feel that, with these recordings....but this is a very personal requirement.
