Read a few reviews about various transmitters. This wasn't the cheapest but had a few good reviews. It feels very well made and solid. Really simple to use and the sound on my car stereo from my Archos 5 is excellent. Tried it in the house and radios in rooms upstairs with all doors closed can pick up the signal. Really first class little piece of kit. very stylish and very well made.

Good buy at last
Having tried a few (cheaper) radio transmitters, this one is just the best. It arrived yesterday, I charged it overnight and used it today with virtually no set up required and the sound quality is fantastic. No interference or signal fading and the memory and lock switch mean it is rock solid every time. Pocketable and simple controls complete with PC and car chargers. An excellent purchase; a pity I wasted my money on inferior products.

Static on the move
The instructions told me to choose a frequency on my car radio that just had static and then to tune the gizmo to the same frequency. That's what I did and it certainly played my Creative Zen MP3 player through the car's stereo system okay, but unfortunately, at the sound levels I like to play my music, the background static, although muted, was still discernible. The only way to stop it was to reduce the car's volume to provide a background level of music, which isn't really what I want.

It occurred to me that the Government ought to get the BBC to broadcast a national carrier wave without any sound on it so that wireless transmitters like this can be used more effectively. But that's probably pie in the sky, so we'll have to make do with what we've got.

On the plus side, I have to say that this gizmo played the music back without any distortion, even when I had my MP3 player cranked up to full volume. It was easy to set up and operate and I had it going within two minutes (once I replaced the duff battery that was provided). It also came with both a USB connector and an in-car charger, which I thought was pretty good value.

If I could have found a frequency on my car radio with a relatively low level of static, then I think I would have given this item five stars. As it is, I'll have to make do or get myself a hard-wired system at 10 times the price.
