Customer Reviews
Not just a bargain!
I was massively impressed by this software. You get a hell of a lot for your money including some good VST instruments and effects. I had not expected to get additional quantise options with cubasis so was pleasantly surprised with the options provided. I'm sure there are plenty of things in the full-price Cubase programs that are not present here but to be honest most of us won't miss them. Highly recommended.
Cubasis VST 5.0 - Very good, but still not perfect.
4.5 Stars really, but that wasn't an option! This is a superb piece of software - delivering on all it's promises. All the basic tools are there for creating/producing music to a professional standard.
It works very with with the SBLive! Platinum Card (inc. Soundfonts, midi interface). It is found wanting in two areas however:
a) Lack of strength/depth in VST instruments and effects included. (There are a Wealth of freeware instruments/effects availible on the web).
b) Not overly user friendly (though this does not pose a problem - as long as you don't object to spending an hour or two finding out excatly what does what). The tutorial is reasonable in depth, and provides a good grounding in most areas. Not for the faint-hearted therefore!
Is it worth upgrading from the previous Cubasis VST 4? Probably not, unless you are going to find the bundled pinnacle studio 8 video editing software useful.
It is worth considering the cakewalk alternative - if you have a little bit extra to spend. That litte statement underlined Cubasis' trump card however - it's a bargain!
Cubasis is OK...........................ish !? :-]
Software loaded up OK ....not being a technico musico is a disadvantage but not preclusive to using this software.
However,we mere mortals can't understand why signals travelling from midi keyboard have such delay to arriving at sound output through speakers via this software. Yes, already forked out for new Audigy soundcard as a direct result of installing and being less than impressed with results of initial attempts to use software etc. Pinnacle could do with providing a jargon busting vocabulary file for we less audio-technical capable users.
Otherwise, pretty good bit of kit.
