Synopsis
FARSCAPE is the story of a band of misfit renegades on the run from military Peacekeepers. The hero of the series is the human John Crichton (Ben Browder), a young astronaut and astrophysicist who becomes stranded on the other side of the universe when his Farscape module goes through a wormhole. There, he is taken in by the sentient ship Moya, where he finds himself in the midst of a battle between the militaristic 'Peacekeepers' and a small band of prisoners who are escaping their grasp. He chooses to team with the escapees--a Luxan warrior (Anthony Simcoe), a deposed Hynerian ruler who strongly resembles a frog (voiced by Jonathan Hardy), a shunned Peacekeeper pilot (Claudia Black), and others whom they pick up along the way--as they run from the Peacekeepers, explore space, and try to find Crichton a way back to Earth. Contains series 1 to 4 of FARSCAPE and the PEACEKEEPERS WARS mini-series.

Absolutely great show, but NO SUBTITLES?!!!!
Love the show, too bad it had to end. But it was a struggle to catch every line in it. I'm not English; therefore I need a little help supported by subtitles, especially with alien voices and sci-fi terms.
It's a shame that with such a great sci-fi show (one of the best indeed) even English subtitles for the hearing impaired aren't available. 5 stars for the show, 1 star for the DVD producers.

absolutely amazing!!!!
after not having watch it for a while, (but remembering that it was brilliant) i bought this set as it works out cheaper then buying the individual series on their own. i have to say im not at all dissapointed. it's worth the £249 it was previously listed at, so now when i got it at the lower price of £130 its a complete bargain. 42 discs with over 75 hours of entertainment, (thats over 3 whole days worth of it) and its not like some series which get boring after a while, THIS grabs you by the arms and just doesnt let go. its not your normal sci-fi, its not your normal drama, its something completely unique and unbelievably enjoyable.

the case itself is longer then i expected and seriously the picture here doesnt do it justice, theres millions of little intricate details that you dont see untill you have it there in your arms. the exclusive content on the discs is now a must for most dvd's nowadays, and this set is no different, with audio commentary from the actors available for most of the episodes (well the ones i've watched so far) and exclusive content for the boxset which is a healthy addition to the complete set.

this is the first and last complete set of farscape, so you dont have to worry about splashing out for a new one in a couple of years time which is another of the sets many plus'.

so if your a farscape fan, buy it now!!! if your not, maybe have a look at a couple of episodes like the pilot episode before you start spending this amount on it, if your a sci-fi fan and looking for something fullfilling but a little different then this is it, and rather then buying it more expensively and in seperate dvds buy this instead, its a lot to fork out, but you'll be saving in the long term, and you wont be dissapointed.

One of the Four Greatest Television Programmes Ever Made
Some people have tried to dismiss `Farscape' as an Australian `Blake's Seven' or `Buck Rogers.' But although it didn't have a unifying message like `Deep Space 9' or `Babylon 5,' it was still one of the most consistently excellent science fiction series ever made.

`SG-1' and `Deep Space 9' were almost ruined by too many bad episodes and hastey re-writes. Most other science fiction is groaning under the weight of its clichés and `Black & White' morality. But amazingly, almost every episode of `Farscape' was exceptional from beginning to end.

The acting was incredible, the scripts were just as good, and the `Jim Henson' Company's special effects were always spectacular and integral to the story.

Even the 'will they, won't they' between Kryten and Ayren, the `Comic Relief' and the few clichéd episodes (often the downfall of many science fiction programmes) were exceptionally well-written and performed. But at the end of the day, since the Science and Technology was justly pushed to one side, the brilliance of this series was almost entirely the result of its wonderful characters.

John Kryten: the human trapped in a strange part of the galaxy and desperate to find his way home.

Khar Dhargo: the Luxan warrior who seems doomed to never be happy.

Ayren Sunn: the `Peacekeeper' soldier, raised obey orders and slaughter without mercy who learns to be something more.

Cpt. Krais: The `Peacekeeper' Captain who first hunts Kryten to take revenge for the death of his brother, but who also learns to be something better than a mindless thug.

And Scorpius: the `Peacekeeper' who later hunts Kryten, desperate to steal the knowledge that he possesses.

Even if you aren't a fan of science fiction, I would highly recommend this series. And in my humble opinion, it is still one of the most amazing stories ever told.
