For the first time in 15 years, comes a comprehensive, definitive collection of the lyrics of music legend and poet, Bob Dylan. From his early days of protest songs, like "Blowing in the Wind", "The Times They Are A Changing", to his revolutionary Subterranean "Homesick Blues", and "Like a Rolling Stone", "Lay Lady Lay", his songs have spoken to generations, had a huge influence on such artists as John Lennon, Lou Reed and Mark Knopfler. This book also contains all of his most recent writing in addition to the beloved songs of the early Dylan canon.

Bob Dylan's Dream
It's all in here, everything from Dylan's debut up to 'Love and Theft' ('Modern Times' is too recent to be included). A fascinating overview of the pop-Picasso's career. Plenty of extra stuff, too, in the form of songs not included on the records (some are well known to fans. As an object, the book is very well produced, though it is (perhaps appropriately) more like a giant album sleeve and liner notes than a book of verse, but this is hardly a criticism. Plenty of photos and stuff printed throughout as well. On the whole, the book is a wonderful reminder of what a talent Bob Dylan is. A cultural phenomenon. Not just for the fans!
You can call me Zimmy
What can I tell you? It's a book that has Bob's lyrics from 1962-1985.It's a weighty old tome. It has a few pictures in that Bob scribbled down, seemingly with a crayon. It's also an astounding read. I'm going to readthis book to my children at night-times, once I find a woman who isn'trepulsed at the sight of me.
What's that you say? My favourite line? Icouldn't possibly say. It would be an injustice.
Ding, dang, do, BobbyD - you've done it again.
An essential companion to a genius's work
While now a little dated (only going up to 1985), this book is a vital document for anyone with an interest in the way a true master shapes his lyrics. As readable as a book of the finest poetry, the edition is furnished with not only an album-by-album presentation of Dylan's lyrics, but also with a range of other lyrics (out-takes etc), poems, liner notes, and a handful of line drawings by the man himself. Sensibly put together with a useful index (by title and by prominent lines), along with Dylan's 'Tarantula', this is what every Dylan fan should have by his side when the stereo gets switched off.
