Average customer review:Product Description
This addition to the BBC's prestigious sessions series comes from one of the UK's finest and most consistently underrated indie groups. Lush orchestral arrangements in thrall to 60s pop envelop Stuart Staples's tales of bruised hearts, squalor and desperation, delivered in his inimitable basso profondo croon.

Crumbs from the Tindersticks' table
Gorgeous. As a starving tindersticks fan I was delighted to find this LP. As ever, this only goes to show what a fully developed, full-blooded, criminally underrated band the Tindersticks are. These tracks are lush, intimate and compelling. The solo version of the duet 'Travellin' Light' is spine tingling, as is the pavement cover 'Here' which is a must. This has relit my fire for the sticks. Please guys, please a new set in the nearish fuuture. 4 stars because Rented Rooms, Bathtime and Let's Pretend are missing and their my favourites. (Pettish, I'm sorry).
A nice addition to the catalogue
It seems that we have a complete collection of all the BBC recordings here. All packaged in the usual Tindersticks style. The cd looks damn good in with all the others.
The recordings are fantastic, clear and well played as is expected of the band, althought looking down the tracklisting may not inspire you to purchase this release... how many versions of these songs can one person own. But it is the way they are played which is so interesting. They are in chronological form and you can almost feel the band developing their live skills throughout.
I disagree with the previous reviewer although some of the tracks are similar other have very different feels to them, especially the earlier tracks where they were developing their sound.
Basically, this release is the best sounding live recordings I have heard from them. Only 4 stars instead of 5 as the tracklisting could have been more adventurous.
Long May They Continue!
What you get: 2 Cds, 26 tracks & sleeve notes from Tinderstick David Boulter. All tracks are composed by The Tindersticks with the exception of Here by Pavement. The 26 tracks are culled from various BBC radio sessions recorded between 1993 & 97 and encapsulates their first three albums. There is nothing radical, revelatory or m.i.a. on offer to entice or suggest these radio sessions are essential to your's or my Tinderstick's collection. To my ears there is nothing much to distinguish these radio sessions from those versions found on the albums which demonstrates just how magnificent The Tindersticks live sound is. Occasionally Staples sounds distinctly nasal but the phrasing & playing are all present & correct. Given the listening choice, I see no reason why I should opt for this instead of one of the three albums but it's nice to have and the music is uniformly excellent.
