Customer Reviews

Billy and Scotland at their best5
Billy is excellent as usual, and we originally borrowed these tapes from a friend after watching the series and deciding there was more to Scotland than we thought.
We subsequently planned a holiday in Scotland, and got some good ideas as to what to do and where to go from this series.
Billy does more for Scotland on these videos than the tourist board will ever achieve.

Decided we want to go again, , so this time bought the videos, so we can have a good laugh and see the scenery too !

The original and his best World Tour5
Billy Connelly is has a unique view of the world, and which makes his World Tour series so unique. This was the first World Tour he did, where he returns to his home country. It is not a tourist guide to Scotland, since Billy only shows what he likes himself, but it will leave you amazed about the beauty of this country.

The episodes are a blend of Billy Connelly showing towns and nature, and bits of the shows he gave in these towns. There is also a full show on the DVD.

In short, several hours of fun and a great introduction to Scotland.

Why 2 discs?3
I'm with the other reviewer - this is the best of his world tours. He's taking us around his childhood, rather than just giving us general historical information about the places he's touring. The other tours feel slightly laboured and as though he's fulfilling a duty. Here he's clearly having a great time, and is inspired and excited to be telling us about Scotland.

But why 2 discs? When this was released on VHS it was all 6 episodes on the one tape, plus one of the tour performances, making a single 4 hour tape and one of the best value available. Here, there is no concert (why?), and for some reason the 6 episodes are spread over 2 discs - 3 episodes each. The episodes aren't high resolution so there's no reason for this.

5 stars for the episodes, but 3 stars for the poor effort in putting this on DVD.
