"Cityspots Warsaw" takes you straight to the heart of the Polish capital, which can thank cheap flights for its increasing prominence amongst city-break afficionados. In the 30's Warsaw was dubbed the 'Paris of the North' and today with its proud history, great nightclubs, exciting architectural projects and forward-looking mentally, it's a city in the midst of renaissance. Warsaw highlights include: The Old Town, which was reduced to rubble during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, now lovingly rebuilt - a UNESCO World Heritage site and buzzing with good bars and restaurants; Bohemian Warsaw alive and well across the river in the Praga district, where the artistic crowd have injected character by way of studios, cafes and bars; the so-called 'Royal Route', taking you to palaces that survived the war; magnificent green parks and fashionable shopping areas; the music of Chopin; Poland's famous Jazz Jamboree Festive; and, the vodka bars that line ulica Mazowiecka. This work is perfect for pleasure-seeking city breakers wanting to quickly pinpoint the city's most entertaining highlights and decide what to see and do in a limited time. It is presented with clear maps to enable fast orientation and full-colour illustrated pages to pinpoint the very best in shopping, sightseeing, eating and drinking - plus great ideas for low-budget entertainment too. This work spans a wide range of destinations, including those served by budget airlines. It features practical listings to suit varied budgets and tastes. Imaginative suggestions reveal each city's hidden gems. Its compact format quickly locates the top must-see and do attractions. It also features full-colour maps and photographs.

Not a travelers guide...
If you are wealthy, plan on staying in posh hotels and don't care much about understanding Polish culture, buy this guide. Otherwise I would recommend one of the others. The tone of this book is very 'Western' and comes across as rather patronising at times.
