Average customer review:Product Description
The notion that cholesterol and saturated fat cause heart disease is one of the most fundamental tenets of modern medicine. It is also completely false. In "The Great Cholesterol Con" you will learn that: Heart disease is not caused by saturated fat nor elevated blood cholesterol; People with low cholesterol levels live shorter lives; Populations consuming high saturated fat diets often enjoy very low rates of heart disease; Many dietary recommendations made by 'experts' to reduce heart disease have actually been shown in animal and human studies to increase heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity; The primary force behind the anti-cholesterol paradigm is not public health, but profit! This meticulously researched book mercilessly demolishes what may well be the biggest and most successful scam in the history of medicine. Most importantly, you'll discover what really promotes heart disease and what you can do to prevent it!

Customer Reviews
Brilliant. The Best.. Look no further. This is the one you need.
Colpo follows Uffe Ravnskov (who wrote the foreword) with a superb book. If you want the truth, evidence, clear advice then this is the book. I have no connection with this book financially or otherwise except that I bought it. After four years following Ravnskov's book I speak from experience.
Answer this question: Do you want to live and be healthy or play about with shallow and fashionable ideas. If the former then look no further.
Thank you Uffe Ravnskov and Anthony Colpo. With a bit of effort from me and a lot of iconoclasm and rejection of fashionable dietary advice you gave me my life and health back.
worthy
A goldmine of information about the scandal of statins. However, it was a much harder slog than the other book with exactly the same name, by Dr Malcolm Kendrick. Both books offer basically the same information but the Kendrick book is also highly entertaining and therefore a pleasure to read - and a third of the price.
Thoroughly researched, straight from the heart
It is a sad comment on the power of vested interest, that the author has had to publish this book himself. If there's any other book on the topic that is as thoroughly and widely researched, yet easily understood, then please let me know!
This book covers the history of how a vitally important substance to health was turned into a health bogeyman by a few influential individuals. When low fat mania became big business and medics and researchers reputations and income were at stake, the low fat crusade became a seemingly unstoppable juggernaut. The author covers diet, drugs, supplements, and the role of stress in heart disease. He writes at length of the numerous studies and trials of diet and drugs that purport to show that lowering your cholesterol (with statins) and eating a low saturated fat diet is sound advice. Colpo has read the research, looked at the data and conclusions, and shows them to be at best highly misleading, at worst, false.
A lot of people will take issue with this book, but will they actually read any of the research itself rather than relying on the summaries?
Unfortunately, there is a public faith in the objectivity of science and medicine that is totally unwarranted, and it is the public that suffer as a consequence. Please buy and read this book. Disagree with it too, if you can, but only after you've taken the trouble to look at the research properly yourself.
