Rough guide map to Malaysia (no date)
As usual, no clear indication of when the map was printed; irritating, that. I reckon they do it so you keep on buying old editions! Never mind, that seems to be the only drawback. And my version certainly seemed up to date, with the latest roads on it: pity that I cannot check the blurb of 'UP TO DATE' as there is no indication when it was sprinted... Amazon says this dates from November 2006.
Two-sided, with Peninsular Malaysia at 1:800,000 scale, and on the other side Sarawak and Sabah at 1:1,100,000 scale. Indexes to place names on both maps; clear mapping for roads of different standards (with distances indicated), railways,National Parks, rivers, altitude at 300 m intervals (plus an extra 150 m for lowlands); and, what is more, printed on waterproof paper (I can confirm that!) which is also said to be rip-proof. I did not try ripping, but the map certainly held up very well at lots of handling in moist conditions, and still the folds kept crisp, text and mapping on the folds remained legible - a great boon, wish English OS maps had that! And apparently the paper, or plastic, on which the map is printed is low-waste and recyclable, too. Excellent all-round.
poor
very poor map, did not bother to take to malaysia as it would have been useless as a roadmap
