Manufacturer's Description
For a high-speed network on a small scale, nothing delivers like these stylish powerhouses. These fast, easy, and affordable Gigabit switches gives your home network the maximum capacity to handle huge bandwidth. Packed with ease-of-use features to simplify your networking experience, their sleek design makes them look great on a desktop - either flat or in the provided stand. The GS605 and GS608 move very large files such as high-end multimedia, gaming, Internet access, and other speed-intensive applications across your network instantly, and because they are standards-based, they painlessly integrate existing 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices on your network. The fan-less design results in silent operation allowing you to focus on your game or relax to your music. Matched with NETGEAR's thorough testing, the GS600 switches provide long-lasting performance you can count on.

Customer Reviews

Does what it says & a decent price too5
I needed a 100mbps switch for our network to replace an old 10mbps. Decided to go for this Netgear 10/100/1000 Mbps switch as I was going to get a 1 Gbps NAS as well.

Just take it out of the box, plug your cables in and away you go. The port lights light up green if a 1000 Mbps connection is detected and orange for 100 Mbps connections.

Ended up buying another a week later as I was impressed with styling, performance and price.

Superb bit of kit5
Plugged in, hooked up by any network cable going and voila, gigabit network. If you have proper gigabit external network harddrives then this is must. It's just a shame Netgear haven't yet made an all in one modem router and gigabit switch. Shame.

Simplicity at its best5
Printers, PCs and a WAP were beginning to outnumber the ports on my router, so I bought a Netgear GS605 to extend the network. It couldn't be easier to setup and install. It was a matter of taking everything out of the box and plugging in the power supply, the link to the router and the network cables to the devices. That's it - no setup disk or passwords, no IP or MAC Addresses to be entered - it does all the mapping itself.

And like Jet Set Willy, I went and bought another a few days later to sort out my son's collection of Printers, PCs and a WAP.
