Good when connected2
This network adapter is great when its connected but unfortunately continually drops out and has to be disconnected from the PC, then it works OK again, replaced it with original standard g adapter and I have no problems. A shame as I have always used netgear without problems.

Very Poor, keeps dropping connection1
Helping a friend out with his wireless gear. He has the DGN2000: Netgear DGN2000 Wireless-N Router with Built-in ADSL2/2+ Modem This is excellent... but there is no netgear accessories to boost or focus the signal i.e. you cannot buy a directional aerial over the omni aerials that are normally supplied. Netgear do not have an extender that is compatible with the DGN2000 (Netgears words). The router is sited in an outbuilding (Office) and is Approx 40-50ft away from the house.

Ok the scene is set, on to the Netgear WN111 v2 USB wireless N adapter: Netgear WN111 he wanted wireless into his house; and could, with the built-in wireless G adapter obtain 5-11Mbps but this would drop out. So, logically if he bought a wireless N adapter; that covers a much larger area, as we are always being told and is bragged off in all the ad's, it would make sense it should pick up a stronger signal, right? Well that theory does hold true to a point, it can connect at 80Mbps or lower... result! er! no, because it only holds the signal for 10 seconds if that, then drops out. It then takes 1-5 mins to reconnect.

He lives in a fairly rural area but his router internet and lan are solid connections with internet at approx 2-3mb. It has been tested with no firewalls, no AV, and no Encryption. The software is the latest at v3.0 and it performs poorly on either the CD installed version (2.3) or the latest v3.0. I have placed the router near the door so as close as possible without it being outside and also up high. I have tried using the windows zero config utility and still nothing.

The laptop has a static IP and DNS is set as per the router info, when it does connect the internet is quick; however briefly that is.

Very poor, if I could give it half a star I would.

set up instructions were clear, I followed step by step instructions on CD supplied.

my set up is connected to an ADSL router (zoom) in another part of the house.

Seems to work well with excellent wireless capability even though my laptop has a type g wireless card.

Printer and PC also connected via wired LAN, both worked first time.
