Manufacturer's Description
The Samsung L83T is a high resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-colour filtered 8.2 mega pixel CCD. This allows the Samsung L83T to produce even better images and take detailed photos for printing up to poster size.
With the Face Recognition AF & AE function, the Samsung L730 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily. The function detects up to 9 faces and automatically focuses on them so that the brightness of the faces are adjusted optimally for beautiful portrait pictures.
With Samsung's unique multi-charging system, travelling has become even easier. With a single charging USB cable kit, SAC-46Kit (SAC-46, SUC-C2), you can conveniently charge the camera on a power point, your laptop or desktop computer.
ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and colour which is sometimes found in flash photography. With ASR the effects of image blur are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well exposed, sharper pictures in low light condition without using a flash at all, which guarantees brighter and more natural pictures.
No more running to join the group photo before the photo is taken on timer. The motion timer function only takes a photo when the subject is still. It assess motion so you can walk back to the group and it will take the photo when you are settled.

Fantastic little camera!!!!
As an owner of a x10 zoom chunky camera I wanted something small that I could take around with me without feeling like I was carrying a brick! I came across this camera and was really impressed with all features it had, especially for the price.
In the Box:
- The Camera (internal memory 19mb flash memory/6 photos on 8.2 mega pixel setting)
- AC adaptor
- USB lead
- Rechargeable battery (according to Manual- Charging time = approx 150mins. Taking still image= approx100 mins/200 shots or recording movie = approx 75 mins)
- A/V cable
- Software CD
- Camera Strap
- Manual
Bad Points:
- Manual in box is a bit brief but there is a more extensive one available to download off the Samsung website.
Good Points:
- Size (length and height only tiny bit bigger than a credit card)
- Price
- I like the fact you get a USB cable with an AC adaptor. You can charge your camera using the socket adaptor or a computer as well as using the same lead to transfer photos to the computer.
- Easy to use, you don't really need to look at the manual
- Lots of preset `scene' settings so if you want to take a photo quickly without messing about you can(night, dawn, portrait, backlight, children, fireworks, landscape, beach & snow, close up, self shot, text, food, sunset, café)
- Lots of manual effects/settings if you do want to mess about
- Good face recognition and ASR
- Bright 2.5" LCD screen
- Probably more but can't think of them at the mo!
Unfortunately the first camera that was delivered didn't charge properly but I am still giving 5 stars because I returned the faulty one to Amazon on a Saturday received the replacement on the Tuesday.
Hope that helps!
Great Deal
Wow, the Samsung L83T is a cracking deal. I couldn't believe how slim and good looking the camera was when it arrived and for such a great price. I have been really happy with the pictures so far and it has some cool features like face recognition and an anti-shake function which works well. I bought this camera to replace my Sony P200 and I havent been dissapointed as for half the cost the Samsung is half the size and twice the camera!
A great little camera
I'm really pleased with this purcahse. The camera is really compact, easy to use comes with loads of really handy settings that make a definite improvement on a basic camera. It's definately a good camera for the price. I spent alot of time comparing similar priced models and found that even though you can find some with slightly higher megapixels (that make you think it's a fantastic deal) they lack what I would consider to be basics. The zoom is often poorer and they don't work well in low light, or have the handy shake reduction settings. Another good point with this camera is the face detection setting, I find that when I'm with a group of friends and we're taking one picture of ourselves it's much easier to make sure that we're all in the picture (otherwise we regularly chop a few heads off). The ability to charge the camera via a computer, as well as a mains socket certainly has it's advantages too. One issue I would agree with is that the instructions are very poor. It should be stated that the camera has to be fully charged before the first use, all very basic instructions mention this but these fail too. If you do purchase the camera I reccomend that you do not switch it on without giving it a few hours to charge to its maximum level. The samsung programme makes it easy to upload photos a save them, but apart from that it's pretty useless, so if you like to edit your photos, even if it's only a little bit, you'd benefit from purchasing an editing programme. Also the metal case has meant that, after many times of dropping it, there isn't a scratch on it and it's working just fine, it may be small, but it's not rediulously delicate. I bought the camera on the deal that amazon offer to get a 2gb memory card with it. I'd say that was definately a good buy, obviously the cameras internal memory is virtually useless and this offer makes the memory card considerably cheaper than buying it on the high street. I have to say I was concerned about battery life, I've always used cameras with your typical AA Ni-Mh batteries. They had a long life anyway and you could always keep a stash of them handy. But I've never had a problem with the battery in this camera, the life is really good and you could always purchase a spare if needs be. All in all I'm very pleased with the results.
