Naruto vs. Sasuke5
The first five episodes in this box set neatly wraps up one of the best fights in anime history between Naruto and Sasuke and the hype surrounding the emotionally charged fight is not exaggerated. We learn about the Mangeky Sharingan to begin with, which explains Sasuke's urgent need to kill Naruto as soon as possible in order to achieve great power, but Naruto has his own reasons for beating Sasuke to bring him back to the Leaf Village, and he hits top form in this fight to make it an even affair, which promises great action scenes and a tear jerking end.

Now we come to the filler episodes for the next 21 episodes, and the first two filler arcs are definately enough to put you off continuing to watch the series, but hold out!!

The first arc sees Naruto, Sakura and Jiraiya head out to the Sound Village to track down Orochimaru. There are some funny moments here, but not much in the way of nail-biting fight sequences.

The second arc brings back a character from the very first episode of Naruto - Mizuki. Mizuki and his brothers have broken out of the Leaf Villages prison, and Naruto must set out with Iruka to bring them back - pretty straightforward storyline.

Here is where the series really picks up though. Naruto journeys out with Hinata, Kiba and Shino to locate the Bikochu Beatle, which will help them track down Orochimaru. There are some priceless comedy moments here with the clash of personalities between Naruto and Kiba, and some great fight sequences with the Stone Village ninja who are also looking for the beatle. There is also the very nice addition of Hinata's new jutsu, and all Hinata fans have their prayers answered as we finally get to see her strengths.

The series leaves us on a bit of a cliffhanger as per usual, in the midsts of a mission involving Naruto, Neji, Lee and Tenten as they are hired to drive out a clan of ninja who have imprisoned a village to work in a gold mine.

Overall, I feel this series still warrants 5 stars, due to the spectacular fight between Naruto and Sasuke and the final two filler arcs. You may just have to put your fingers in your ears when watching the middle part of the series.

An Epic Finale Followed By Mediocre Fillers3
Continuing from the explosive and long awaited fight between Naruto and Sasuke at the end of series 5, the brawl is brought to a climactic conclusion at the start of this set. As is the first part of the story. After this story arc comes the daunting 80+ episodes of filler material (material not converted from the original source manga). Series 6 is an ironic boxset to buy as it contains a conclusion to one of the most important and emotionally driven battles, yet conversely, it goes downhill afterwards with the introduction of the filler. On the plus side, these early filler episodes aren't quite as bad as people make out, but I'm pretty sure that things are going to get tedious from here.

After the smoke has cleared from the Sasuke - Naruto duel, this series gives us the first of such material. The filler episodes are divided into short mini story arcs. The first of which sees Naruto and Sakura infiltrating Orochimaru's layer and the next one involving Mizuki (a minor character from way back in episode 1) escaping from his prison and getting up to his no-good antics again. Only this time, sporting a newly ripped body and two super strong (yet super stupid) cronies. These episodes; while they provide some good comedy and lovely animation, the action seems a little on the tame side at times and the story seems less engaging and intersting. The thing that made Naruto stand above the crowd and become a huge success was it's intelligent and addictive story telling which can be credited to manga creator - Masashi Kishimoto's fine work. However, now that this material is brand new and has not been taken from Kishimoto's manga, the feel of the show is different. If you're expecting more of the clever, well thought out battles and the introduction of more likeable and entertaining characters, then you will be very disappointed. On the plus side; if you're a Naruto fanatic and you're looking for some more ninja action to satisfy your fix then these filler episodes may just do that for you. One good thing that the filler episodes do is give some of the lesser seen, secondary characters a shot in the limelight. Characters such as fellow ninjas Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka and Rock Lee all get some well deserved exposure in this set of episodes.

Like the previous boxsets, this release has the option to watch all 26 episodes in either Japanese or English, but unfortunatly has no special features except for the same old manga entertainment trailers.

If you're only interested in the main story of Naruto, then I suggest you purchase series 6 part 1 (for the awesome finale to the Sasuke vs Naruto brawl) instead of this entire boxset (and then sit tight and wait for Shippuden to arrive). However, if you have some enough patience to endure 80+ episodes of filler then be my guest and buy series 6 and all the ones that follow. I'm sure that hardcore Naruto buffs will find enjoyment here, but casual viewers should steer clear.
