Manufacturer's Description
Excalibur Publishing Limited brings you Euro Truck Simulator from leading developer SCS Software.
From the creators of Bus Driver, Euro Truck Simulator is a truck simulation game set in continental Europe. The player can drive across a realistic depiction of Europe, visiting its beautiful cities, picking up a variety of cargo and delivering them on time!
The road network in Euro Truck Simulator is based on genuine European roads and cities. Being set in Europe, European truck-designs feature exclusively - all trucks use highly realistic, meticulously detailed models. The truck interiors of Euro Truck Simulator are as equally impressive as the exteriors. With actual working instruments such as flashing indicators, temperature and low fuel warning lights, wipers, and naturally - a full set of gauges including speedometer - all built into the interior 3D model, Euro Truck Simulator offers a truly immersive simulation environment. The player can pan around the cabin, just as if they were actually sitting at the wheel.

Euro Truck Simulator
This is a very good game, installation is simple and it checks your system to give you the best graphical options ( you can change these if you want). The game runs very smoothly and looks really good, day, night, sunshine, rain and thunderstorms. The roads are busy and the AI seems fine, they even stop and let you pull out or do your reversing.
I have had a few simulator titles (flight, trainz etc) and i think this keeps you coming back as everyday is slightly different. Varity of loads and locations, you can freely drive around any country you have access too, but you will need to do some deliveries to earn money to pay for fuel etc.
Only downside is that you can't drive on the Uk roads, and maybe the odd set of roadworks would add to the realism, however I have noticed that the AI vehicles do occasionally have crashes and this causes traffic jams.
Overall if you want a driving sim with a kind of business feel to it (which gives you reason for driving) then this is the one.Only 4 stars because no game is ever perfect. Be good if there were addons like you get for flight sim. Go buy it!!
best game in the series
Finally this long anticipated addition to the Hard Truck series arrives and it is certainly the best one. The makers of this series are doing great, the first 18 Wheels of Steel was a good game, and it established a solid ground for truck simulation games in general to follow. The releases that followed that had some flaws, and the latest one American Long Haul was probably the best of all that group. Now this game has acquired the crown. First, it is set in Europe, which is a great change and very welcome as well, from playing on American Maps all the time. The graphics are really amazing, the detail level is very high, especially the interior of the truck, where everything is animated, and you can see all the digits, and speedometers in action. This was missing or not fully functional in previous editions of the game. The greatest improvement is the handling of the truck, it feels more realistic, and not a 100% arcade driving anymore. You have to be a lot more careful when you turn for instance. Installation is quite easy and fast, no problems there. System requirements are not that big, but it is always preferable to have a good graphics card of at least 256 dedicated memory, and 1 Giga Ram. This will insure a smooth running of the game. I am running it on those setting, and I do get some glitches now and then, but nothing serious. The roads, maps, and companies all look amazing in the game, very realistic and enjoyable to watch while driving. Certain aspects of the game remain more or less the same with a little bit of improvement, like the economy and strategy, where you have to build your company from scratch, though they did introduce something like a ranking system in the campaign where you improve your status by achieving certain requirements.
I did notice some flaws however: The horn sound is not that great, not suitable for a truck at all. And there is no sound for Reverse, which is a bit strange.
I am still in the first stage of the game, and could not see that there is Radio or chatter, which was good, but now it is misssing, which makes the game a bit too quit for my liking. There is probably an option to play your own tracks, but could not find it so far.
The system of trailer detachment has changed, now it is a bit more difficult, and you have to be very accurate. Though it adds to the challenge, and makes the game even more realistic.
So in a nutshell, excellent truck simulation game, amazing graphics, sadly there is no UK map, game play is awesome, and it is definitely worth buying whether you are a big truck fan, or just a fan of simulation games, this is a real must buy. Top quality simulation game and best in the series.
A FUN GAME THAT PUTS YOU IN THE DRIVING SEAT.
This game which has some of the best graphics this side of the Microsoft Train Sim. Is a real must for the Simulation gamer and makes you feel like a real truck driver. It's a shame it's based on mainland europe and excludes the UK even though we are part of the EU ?. It loads in minutes with no fuss and install's Direct X9 so your Graphics card will do it's job. However once you get used to driving ( on the wrong side of the road ) and get used to, driving the truck with the Arrow keys which is a pain !. This game is quite emersive and follows the rule of the road so you must drive resposibly at all times. Which means this isn't like many PS3 Driving games were you can cause carnage. You have free roam over the whole of Europe but you must service your Truck and pay for fuel on the way. And driving offences must be paid from your wage when you deliver your load. My P.C which is now two years old performes brilliantly with this game as it detects your system spec's by itself. All in all not a bad game if only the control of the truck itself was more fluid. It would be better if you could use the mouse to control the steering but you can't have everything I guess.
