How easy is it for lesbian and gay couples to adopt? Is the process any different from heterosexual adoption? Is it true that only hard-to-place children get placed with lesbians and gay men? This book answers these questions and more and talks to gay men and lesbians about what it is really like to adopt a child.
The Pink Guide to Adoption is the very first guide in the UK for lesbians and gay men considering adoption. The first part of the book outlines the process and explains what prospective adopters should expect and the stages they will have to go through. Illustrated with quotations from gay men and lesbians, it highlights key issues for those embarking on the adoption journey.
The second part features 14 case studies of lesbians and gay men, both couples and single adopters, at various stages in the adoption process. Informative and inspiring, these stories bring to life the reality of what adoption means. They describe the highs and lows, the difficulties faced and the rewards enjoyed.
A must for any lesbian or gay man wishing to adopt, The Pink Guide also provides invaluable insights for social workers into the loving families lesbian and gay adopters can offer.

Excellent
An excellent, informative and easy-to-read guide to what lesbians and gay men can expect when going through the adoption process in the UK. The adoption laws and attitudes towards LGB adopters have changed dramatically in the past five years or so, and this book comes at just the right time. As a prospective adopter myself, I enjoyed reading the case studies of those who are further along in the process than my partner and I are, and it gives a good idea of what is to come. A great little guide for any LGB people wondering if adoption is right for them. Highly recommended.
It can be done!
This book dispels many of the myths around gay and lesbian parenting and shows how gay and lesbian prospective adopters can turn their hopes and dreams of becoming parents into reality. The individual case studies resonate with the reader as real people in real situations sharing their experience, including highs and lows. Overall, a positive and helpful book.
10 out of 10 !!
I've found this book really interesting, especially the case studies. I like reading about other gay people's experiences of adoption - they are very inspiring and encouraging. The book also gives you all the information you need to get started on the adoption process.
