Product Description

Compiled by UK DJ Patrick Forge, The Brazilian Funk Experience hooks into Patrick's personal love affair with the funky 70s Brazilian sound, digging deeper than deep into the respected EMI Odeon Label. Here he presents 20 solid gold Brazilian nuggets, most as rare as hen's teeth and on CD for the first time. Strangely every melody and jazz break sounds sooo familiar... might just be you've heard it on a radio show or at a club round London town. And it might just have been Patrick or one of his followers that was spinning tunes behind the decks at the time. So people, get on your Rio shoes and enjoy the grooves.

At this price what's stopping you?5
Some real gems here. Granted some of the tracks have been released on other compilation records (namely Gilles Peterson's; indeed Forge used to DJ with Gilles back in the eighties; check out their excellent Dingwalls record) but that's because the songs are excellent. There's a nice mix of funk, jazz, folk and soul here that is sure to make your average party goer stand up, take notice, and applaud your unique and well flavoured musical taste.

As a fan of the PF I indulged as the cover has all the hallmarks of some classics along with some unheard nuggets to complete things. The price is great though I did feel a tad let down by what sounded to me like some fairly jaded and a little plastic sounding brazilian beats which needed a big shot of caffeine to liven things up. It's more 2.5 stars...........in short I'd give it a miss

To be honest, I expected a little bit more from this CD. May be a bit more up-tempo? Chose a couple of songs for my party CD mix, but other than that, was a bit dissappointed. More for listening, than dancing to.
