nice basic designs with a twist4
If you're my type of knitter (not to much time, kids, not wanting to spend millions on large amounts of luxurious yarn, having a reasonable shash of all types of yarns, eager to make smaller projects and giving them a personal twist) this book is a gem.
The whole idea of making a project from a single skein of yarn appeals to me tremendously. Leigh Radford presents some contemporary designs of clothing and accessories many of which I could imagine myself making for myself or others. A fair amount of the projects are things not to difficult to dream up and work out yourself (like the legwarmers - a tube with a lace etching - duh) but it sometimes is nice to have them worked out by somebody else and presented in a yummy book with nice photography. And let's face it, my favorite kind of knitting book is one with designs and photographs that make me want to make the things in the book. If you liked 'Last minute knitted gifts' by Joell Hoverson, you'll like this one too.

dear oh dear conned again2
I keep on falling for the publicity about craft books and buying them. This book supposedly gives you plenty of ideas to knit with your odd balls of wool but it doesn't (except perhaps the cup cakes? but these have limited appeal). Most of the wool used is specialist yarn, requiring that you go and purchase it as alternatives are not clear. Not a great deal for crochet, the knitting is uninspiring and yet again more b----- felting! This time felt bowls, for goodness sake. As much good as a chocolate watch.
These type of books are often described as 'inspirational'. Well I wasn't inspired. Would have given it one star except that I've found another book even worse than this (and yes I bought that one too. Sucker!)

quick and fun projects!5
There are plenty of nice patterns in this book, ranging from the extremely basic to more challenging ones with cable work and DPNs. I am a beginner and this book has taught me some quick and easy projects, and also provides more challenging patterns with new techniques for me to try. I would recommend any knitter to add this to their collection as you will definitely get a lot of use out of it.
