Call of Duty returns, and to many people’s surprise, it’s going back to World War II. While original series creators Infinity Ward brought the series into the modern day, developer Treyarch are setting out to make the definitive historical first-person shooter.
The Soviet attack on Berlin features intense street battles |
Take on the Japanese navy as you board a U.S. flying boat |
World at War features the most realistic fire effects ever |
The new ability to swim adds to both the story and multiplayer modes |
The game is primarily set in the Pacific theatre and has a much more realistic, violent tone requiring less-linear game play than previous Call of Duty installments. You'll struggle to survive Japanese attacks without mastering new gaming skills, like swimming or how to use a flamethrower--a weapon that packs some punch in the fully destructable game world.
Also featured is a campaign on the Eastern front, where you take control of a soldier in the Soviet Red Army during the attack on Berlin in the closing stages of the war. The game also includes the series’ first co-op mode, while the competitive multiplayer mode aims to build upon the achievements of Call of Duty 4 and add to the game’s longevity.
Key Features- Dual campaigns: Fight in two very different World War II battles. Take on the Japanese Imperial army in the Pacific, and liberate Berlin as part of the Soviet Red Army.
- Grim realities: Experience the most bloody and realistic combat ever seen in the series, as you witness enemy atrocities and wield horrific new weapons such as the flamethrower.
- Job with benefits: Revamped competitive multiplayer mode features useable vehicles and an expanded perks system from Call of Duty 4.
- Brothers in arms: For the first time, a Call of Duty game features a four-player co-operative mode that’s playable online or via a split screen option on the same console.
- Modern graphics: The game uses an enhanced version of the Call of Duty 4 graphics engine, with wood that splinters realistically when shot and fires that spread organically.
One of publisher Activision’s biggest internal studios, Treyarch have worked on many of the company’s best known titles, from the Spider-Man movie tie-ins and spin-offs to several of the Call of Duty sequels and the new James Bond game, Quantum of Solace.

the best FPS experience on the wii so far
.really good graphics and a very cinematic feel to the game.
.controls are very good but not as good as metroid 3 or medal of honour heroes 2.
. the best single player experience to date, and in my opinion better than metroid 3.
.sound really good with great background music.
.cooperative gameplay. It may not be the best but itsb fun if you have someone with you.
. online multiplayer is lag free, 8 players. It may not have 32 players like medla of honour, but it looks much better and the maps are really good. Also, even though it only has deathmatch and team deathmatch and no capture the flag, it has ana awsome upgrade system. therefore, the more you play online, the higher your rank will get and you can get enw weapons and abilites. You can also, call for dogs and atrillary fire to help you when playing online, so it is really intense and enjoyable.
Therefore, as this game looks good, the single player campaign is just amazing! and the online gameplay is robust i would highly recommend this game to all wii fans and non-wii fans.
CoD: WaW
World at War is one of the best first-person-shooters on the Wii and definitely an improvement on its predecessor, CoD3.
The game has nice graphics, for the Wii, and a tidy control system which makes the most of the remote and nunchuck. The campaign is a joy to play and the story which runs through the game is really quite good.
The wide range of missions will keep you playing for hours without being bored by repetitive tasks. The game also permits the use of a wide variety of weaponry throughout.
Another plus about this game is the multiplayer aspect which is a great feature. There's a decent variety of levels and weaponry which you unlock as you improve your ranking online.
Overall this is a great game with some really nice touches. It has more difficulty levels than previously and the replay value is pretty high. It's definitely well into the four stars rating in my book but I feel that it just lacked that extra `wow' factor to make it five stars, but don't let that put you off. Buy, buy, buy...
COD, fun thats slightly more grown up for the Wii
As anyone can see this is not a game for your kid's! however for those nights in where you need to be challenged and want to go crazy shooting people drop your gun and pick up the Wii remote! This is a truely brilliant game and the best First person shooter so far on the Wii. Its not kiddy and as a result the game is a different kind of fun from your Mario Galaxy but still just as good. The controls are at times my only draw back on this game as your throw back grenade button is the 'plus button' and difficult to reach round when your firing, however, there challenging and need skill which makes the game so much more involving .
Internet is a must on this cause thats where it will last forwever, aslong as you have people to play with. Not only that but you can make your own personal game just for your mates which is a brilliant touch if you want to fight with only people you know. Unlocking guns and perks with experience points on the net only makes gives the game more purpose and its addictive nature will for sure wreck your degree and destroy your relationships. Its an awesome game and one that finally (baring Mario Galaxy/Kart, Wii sports and resident evil) that matches up to its price tag, which! is quite cheap in comparrison to the PS3 and Xbox.
