Average customer review:Product Description
"Quite simply this is an excellent book. It is well–written, with snatches of dry humour. It should be mandatory reading for anybody who keeps a dog or has intentions of so doing." —R. W. F. Poole, Daily Telegraph
How do dogs perceive the world about them? How do they see, hear, learn, relate to their owners? How large are their brains, what is their emotional makeup? Why do they suffer from stress and how can it be coped with? Over the last few years a substantial body of knowledge has been built up about the psychology of dog behavior. Combining more than twenty years of practical experience as a veterinary clinician with a personal knowledge and understanding of the latest international research, Dr. Bruce Fogle has written the most inclusive and relevant book on how the canine mind works.

Fascinating
I found this book fascinating. It is exactly what it says in the product description.
I am no super brain or vet but did find it really interesting and gave me new insight into my dogs and didn't find it hard to understand or to sciency.
I intend to read through it again as their is so much information to take in I don't think I fully digested it the first time.
A great read for people wanting more indepth knowledge into their dogs makeup.
Didn't Hit the Spot
I bought this book after one of my puppies was displaying aggressive behavior hoping to gain some inside as to why this was but I found that this book never really answered my questions. It is written in a very impersonal way and I found it hard to get into. I also purchased two other book at the time which I found much more to my liking and they were Victoria Stillwell's training book and also the Puppy Whisper which I would recommend over this book.
fab book
This book is great but may be a little in depth for the general dog owner. I'm training to become a behaviourist and it has been invaluable for my coursework, and general personal learning, but i feel it may be too indepth for an owner who just wants a book to learn a little more about their dog and how he thinks. An excellent book, but unless you find 'normal' dog books tedious and boring or are ready to take the next step into understanding your dogs psychology, this may be a miss for you. dog owners who are interested on why their dog behaves in certainways, and wants to know more would do well to buy this as it cover a range of topics including hormones, brain funcion, heretitary traits etc. But a warning this is not a training book! it is a book more interseted in the psychology of the dog, and what makes them the way they are, it may help you understand why he does what he does, but won't particlarly help you 'fix' him. Definately worth the money.
