Synopsis
Change Magic is the evolutionary approach to change engineering and organisational problem solving Change Magic is based on powerful, systemic change tools and principles that help you to adapt an organisation's people and culture to ensure long term success. Change Magic is designed for change management or culture change situations where you find that the traditional approach to organisational change simply does not work. Change Magic delivers balanced, systemic change by planning for the future, not by dwelling on the change itself.

The personal side of managing change
Very easy to read, Peter has not forgot his human side and presents in an engaging way. At no time did I feel he is on an NLP crusade - he merely wants to help you realise how good you already are and how even better you can chose to be.
Particularly like the opening pages - setting the scene. For anybody who may have a lingering anxiety over reading text books, especially those involving complex sounding words such as Neuro Linguistic Programming, the language used is non threatening and "every day". This makes it easy for the reader to understand the concepts and apply them to their own situation.
I actually felt that I wasn't reading this book but having a conversation with the author. Peter's style is very much to write to the inner voice, the internal critic that we all have and I found myself answering the questions posed along the way. He has made it a very engaging book indeed - how many books do that now?
No doubt you will hear throughout your day that something is "common sense" without people ever stopping to think what that actually means. What struck me in this book was that if you want a good idea about what common sense actually looks like in practice, then it's contained within the pages of Change Magic. The principles contained are ideal advice for anybody engaged in change (and who isn't nowadays?)at work, and also to build into training programs which are about personal change or for those who bring it about - for example in substance misuse programs. I have to say none of this was included in my formal management qualifications but really, it should have been.
If I had one business book, this would be it
My review title says it all. If I had to reduce my business library to one book, this would be it.
Peter's approach is practical, down to earth, and perpetually challenging.
This chap is to be counted amongst the business guru's/greats. And he has one great advantage over many of them - his stuff actually works across the whole business not just for 'strategy' people.
